Wow! Glad you were unhurt. I'm guessing it was good that disk stayed between the pads, so you still had three good brakes.

honestly, never touched the brakes at all....let 'er coast to a stop....IMO, that's the safest way....braking 'may' have caused a bigger issue....again, IMO, I think folks are too quick to 'panic' and nab the brakes....
I may spoil myself with new bearings...tho I bet that inner is salvagable.....the races are fine
BTW: this happened over 2 weeks ago...been too busy getting the FJ40/DMax/lil'trailer ready for Katemcy to deal with it
Planning to bring it out for Cruise Moab....assuming a new garage roof and new house windows and other repairs don't deplete my fundage too badly

One of the things they drill in ya at protection detail is to be cool under pressure.

(1) mileage?
(2) Last Birf repack?
(3) any steering or braking quirks or unusual clicks or noises.

Glad your OK. Saw this happen in Dallas when a trailer lost Both tires as they rolled buy my truck. Scared me pretty goog and it was not my rig. Mike

taught a bunch of folks how to do a wheelstand in an FJ40 on Friday and use reverse to save it....other than Clutchee's dad needing new underwear, it weren't nuthin...
miles: 190kish...birfs: haven't touched since I bought the truck at 110kish in 2005...noises: steering was 'off' to the left just a shade, guessing it was pulling against the bearings, had some noises earlier in the day (brake-type squeak)
parts is parts...
I saw it in person. The wheelstand part, not the underwear part. It was nice.

so, Woody, did I understand correctly that the only symptom was the steering wheel and the pulling?
No play in the bearing, no odd resistance to spinning when up in the air, no discoloration, nothing like that? Damn...
I've been known to go around the truck after a long drive and feel the hubs to see if any is oddly hot. Rarely, admittedly, but maybe it's not such a stupid thing to do in light of this incident...

well, the passenger side is together....opted to re-use the original knuckle, no problems whatsoever.....only thing that didn't get installed is the shield for the brake rotor....optional
Drivers side is on tomorrow mornings list...
of course, I fix that and my silly steering wheel is STILL off....fortunately, I DID discover why...the right rear LCA is bent, pushing that axle forward a tad, and the truck is crabbing just slightly and I need to steer left to keep it going straight ahead....not sure when that happened...possible it occurred when I wheeled it in July in Attica....or before....who knows....
just left a message with Slee Offroad...time for some serious-duty LCA's.....
