Tucker, Thanks for the report on the new gearing. I was hoping, for my builds sake, that the 4.11s would help compensate for the 617s lack off abundant off idle torque.

Also, would you mind snapping some pics of your motor mounts for me? I'm getting close to fitting the drivetrain in the Mule and I think I'm going to use GM motor mounts like Don did for Manny... (I finally started a build thread over in the tech section if you're interested)

----Break break----

Last I talked to Luke, couple of weeks ago, he's going a different direction for the flywheels. I think I got one of the last ones he had produced by Fidanza. I can appreciate the replaceable steel friction surface, but personally I'd prefer an all steel flywheel for the extra mass and lack of differential metals (expansion/contraction). I do think the alum will help off idle rpm. Time will tell...

I'm running these weld-in motor mounts with the stock OM617 arms and soft mounts:

These will work fine if you're running a crossmember to support your transmission, I would not recommend with the bellhousing ear transmission mounts due to them allowing a lot of movement with the short radius arm. This is why others have gone to the GM style mounts, but then you'll have to deal with the increased vibration the stock mounts absorb ;)

Do you have pics of them burned in?

Got to spend some time in the garage today, had to install a new thermostat housing since a bolt was stripped on mine and it was leaking :-(. I did get to install my new bling (thanks Chris):

You can see my bumper back from powder and installed in this one:

Also got around to installing my cargo panels and new vents (thanks Ige):

Cheers!

Tucker,

Looking good! The panels give the interior a finished look.

Are you going to put your spare on the bumper.

Ya - think I'm going to order the swing out. I had wanted to mount it inside and bought the cargo mount from SOR, the 33x10.50 is too big with the roll bar :(. I think the swing out is a PITA, but it's my only option now with the long range tank. Let me know if anyone needs a mount -

Tucker,

Post a picture of it, will you. I've been thinking along that line, too. Is your tire too big, because of the width or the height.

I'll be useing the 33's, but a bit skinnier.

Thanks,

Ron

Yes, we made it home Christmas Eve, made a Baileys and coffee.. or 3 or 7 we can't remember.. passed out .. then unloaded the moving truck for our Christmas day festivities....

Relaxed yesterday and put up 2200 sq feet on R-13 and R-19 insulation today...

Tomorrow I'll start on the subfloors and underlayment. Need to get the house repaired so I can get all our stuff out of MY SHOP!

Hope you had a great day T.
