No doubt. Looks good.

Did you build?

Been contemplating options for sliders/door protection for the '76, since a DD....this after another carelessly, wind whipped door of a BMW contacted the PP80s at Qt this morning.

Funny how they always look pissed at me, when it's their door flung into my sliders. Haha.

Yes - ordered them as a kit from John at White Knuckle Offroad, he didn't have a pig to template so he fabbed the slider and kick-out to my measurements and just sent materials for mounting.

That's gonna turn out real nice.

I dont think green will match :) I assume you will powder coat black? or silver like your bumper?

Those look awesome. WKOR is awesome and john is good peeps. High quality workmanship for sure!

That's the self etching primer, going to paint them black. Powder coating just didn't make sense the way I wheel, being able to touch them up will be better :-)

So one thing always leads to another, in trying to get the sliders installed for the LSLC Roundup in March I ran into an issue. My exhaust is currently run down the outside of the DS frame rail, exactly where I need to mount my slider :frown: Having known for a while that I was going to have to rework my exhaust when I did the H55 swap (in the way of cross-memeber mount), I decided now is the time to install this bad boy:

So I got her situated for an extended stay in the garage and pulled the front seats, transmission hump and drive shafts :grinpimp:

Split-case comes off tonight, got me a fancy new transmission jack I'm hoping makes the job easier.

Stay tuned ...

:pig:

Tucker,

That case looks a lot cleaner than mine, starting out. I thought it was one of the fun things to rebuild, on the wagon.

Have you given any thought to the 5 speed shifter position? On mine, second gear right under my knee and seems to be alittle short, also. I haven't taken it out yet, to see what I can do to it, maybe you have an idea.

Tucker, I still have the bent shifter from the Black Mamba. It's on the shelf in my garage if you think it will help when you get the H55 bolted up. Let me know.

Was pleasantly surprised with the condition of the case inside, broke a couple of bolts in the process of taking it apart that aren't gonna be fun ... but that's how it goes.

We'll see in a few weeks when I get it all back together, don't see why the position will be any different than my late H42 reverse (shifter hole is in the same spot). If it bugs me I'll most likely bend the shifter at the thin part below the taper (where the boot sits).

Thanks for the offer but it won't work, the 5-speed shifter is different :frown:

Do either of y'all think it's feasible to transplant a portion of the upper shifter to the H55s?

Cut and weld?

I have been hunting 40 specific top plates for a couple of months, to no avail, so will be in the same boat soon.
I'm sure it can be done, going to see how it is with my setup before I get overly concerned (shifter position, seat position). You find one of those plates we'll have to crown you king of the rare parts. It wouldn't be worth it for me to find one, I'm not mounting this to a stock motor so the placement wouldn't be right anyway.

Tucker, My big question is how much I'll have to modify the floor and tunnel of my 55 to stuff an H55 in the Pig.

Will you take lots of pictures?

Thanks!

Pablo,

On mine, all I had to do is cut a hole for the shifter, three on the tree cover. Depends on the engine and trans., you have in there now.

Colvin did the H55 in the 76 red and white beauty that is in their shop frequently. I saw to cover when they had it out, cut a new opening and welded up the old. I'm sure KC would give you a look at her if needed.

Really?!? No mods for longer tranny and split-case? That would be cool.

I am running a 3FE tied to a 55 bellhousing w/ the mounts.

I have heard that the 3F bellhousing clocks the tranny a little bit for shifter placement.

Pablo,

You have to remember, I'm running a chevy and placed the motor with my own mounts. Your setup will be different, but I think the only mods will be putting the holes in the right spot.
