What the next wheeling function you think you'll be in the Pig at?
Not sure man, would love to make the Southern Cruiser Crawl but football season is really bad for me:frown: Will definitely be at the Roundup in March, is there anything between now and then? Used to be ICBM up in Gilmer, think they are just doing the Jamboree in May now? I'm not terribly far from you if you're planning on getting a pig dirty soon -

Finished up a little project on my Pig, I had soaked my quarter panel vents in brake fluid for a few days to remove multiple layers of peeling paint. Figured out why they were painted in the first place, so I prepped them and re-sprayed them black until I can find a better option. Picked up a set of new marker lights from Cruiser Corps and took the opportunity to clean up the ducts and make new gaskets:

Just waiting on a new PS panel after some mounting hole adjustments and a new set of vents from Ige ;)

Looking good Tucker, thanks again for the help with the top this evening.

Spent some time assembling my '81 rear axle last night, hope to get it under the truck this weekend. Installed a 4:11 chunk from a FJ80 and got the brakes installed with new cylinders (shoes were rusty but still had a lot of meat so I re-used :hillbilly:):

Hopefully I'll get the diff cover sealed up and install the hardlines and ebrake cables tonight.

Tucker

Tucker looks good. Have you thought about the E-brake cable yet. Where are mounting the handle? I'm commited to useing a 60 handle, which will hopefully mount to the left of the driver's seat.

I'm going to try to use my dash pull and splice that cable with this one similar to what LAMBCRUSHER did, I'll go to a floor mounted 60 setup if that doesn't work (worried about getting enough tension). The mini trucks used the dash pull setup with axle drum ebrakes, so I think it should work?

Tinkering in the garage this evening ... something's missing :-)

Now to put the other one on ...

Stock bushings I bought don't fit in the spring eyes, gonna drill the ones that are there out for 18mm pins and install the new on the frame side. Had to cut an exhaust hanger to get the damn shackle bolt out :-(

More tomorrow ..,

Tucker

Working on a birf job and the front 3rd swap to match the 4:11s, got everything except the knuckles and backing plates de-greased and ready to go (those were freaking concrete, one more day in the parts washer). Also got the 3:73 chunk removed, should get it all put back together this evening if everything goes according to plan :)

Had to pick up some new brake lines, the front soft lines cracked when I tied them back.

Tucker

Looking good man, can't wait to see what 4.11s do to that Merc Power plant

x2 Tucker. I need to drive it again and see the difference in the ratios

Made a little more progress, got everything cleaned and painted. Installed new trunion bearings and bolted up the knuckles, new TREs installed and painted:

Rest of the parts ready to go:

Hold up is preping the axle mating surface for the 3rd, gasket is being a PITA :( I'm off for a WALCs bash this weekend, should finish this up early next week.

Tucker

Did you measure pre-load on the knuckles when re-assembling?
I read up on death-wobble b/c my 40 has a slight shimmy in the front end and improper shimming of the knuckles (pre-load) is frequently implicated...
