UPDATE !!

So, I had some electrical issues....truck would crank and start run for about 2 sec then die...
Found out two things...
1- I had the fuel relay grounded..
2- the fuel pump (supposed to be self-regulated...it is not) was pumping too much fuel and drowning the engine....

I finally got it roaring.....
I took it to the Mikes Muffler and they did their magic.
Here are the pics.....

This guys did a great job placing that exhaust when it was so damn tight on the front end !!!!!

manuchao-albums-fzj80-picture17880-poser-shot.jpg

She has a nice wide rear end... Although the tire clears the lic plate and the turn signal Im going to move it up a notch and to the left.... just cause !!!!

Without the rear bumper and swingouts this thing was sitting ass high.. not its leveled out really nice.....f

So, I added 4" of metal on the rear of the bumper for when I have the RTT up there and I need a secure place to stand on....

So, I drove the rig from Mike's Muffler..... it wandered all over the place....
I expected this, as I need to address caster angles...
Already order some from "LANDTANK" and should be here next week.

I also forgot I needed to reflash my PCM as it is programmed to run 3.70's and this thing has 4.11's... The shifting is really funky.....

It is hard to have it sitting there almost finished and not being able to take it for a long drive...
Soon !!!!

Quite possibly one of the coolest things I've seen. Your ingenuity is inspiring.

I don't see anything about your truck i don't like, great build.

I would prefure a change to the truck's title - like if it had me as the owner.

I have seen it in person and the pictures don't do the truck justice!

Dynosoar:zilla:

Thanks dudes.... it really has turned out better than I ever imagined....... !!!

Some bad news....

So, I ran the pig a few times (less than 10 miles each time) and on the last run I smelled something burning. I check under the hood and truck but all seemed fine..
I think the 4L60E seemed to have taken a crap :crybaby:

I takes off great on first and on to second but once it reaches 2k it just runs (on what it seems neutral) and keeps reeving the engine with no power....it seems to slip out of gear......
I read up that the 3-4 clutch pack might be burned out..... to bad shift solenoids.....

I thought of being the VSS but I ran it with it unppluged and it ran steady on first (never shifter onto any other gear).
I also checked all the electrical connections for any possible damage from the muffler shop but it all seems to be intact.

Im looking at having fix only what is worn out (not doing it) or do a complete rebuild (probably will go this way)....:crybaby::crybaby:

Thoughts any one ?

BTW... Dylan thanks for flashing the ECU.... No codes of any kind...hope it stays that way once its running....
I did installed the caster plates I got from LANDTANK and although they were a biotch to installed (drilled out) it all went without a hitch.... the coils used to have bow to them now they are nice and straight.......

You sure you have enough fluid/does it look burnt? Thats an odd way for the transmission to go out. It really might just be a solenoid which shouldn't be to expensive to fix.

I don't think it's either of those problems.

Did the transmission ever work right? If the fluid level was low than all gears would be affected and it would slip worse when going sound corners. Same would be the case if the filter fell into the pan.
If it was a solenoid, then you'd be seeing a trouble code. Have you scanned it since the issue started? I doubt it is a solenoid.
Sounds to me like it's trying to shift into third but just slipped severely. To me that means either the direct clutches are destroyed or the input drum/shaft is cracked.
Here's another thought. When you mated the transmission and tcase together, did you make sure the transmission output shaft didn't bottom out in the spud shaft? If that is the case, then the output shaft would be forced forward into the trans which definetly cause internal damage.
Here's what I would recommend:
1) check fluid level just to make sure
2) put a scanner on it
3) take it to a reputable trans shop
I think you have a mechanical issue which will require the transmission to come out........

Fluids are good.. I even put a little too much
No codes of any type.. so yeah that rules out solenoids...
I also checked the oil on park and when it was on drive.. it went down a little..so that tells me the pump is working..
Yes, 1st and 2nd no problem no third tho it just sounds like it goes into neutral and revs up.

Tranny ran great for 2 to 3 years...went to AK, AB, Montana, Utah, AZ and CO without any hiccups
It did overheated a couple of times when i pulled my trailer but that's about it..
Output shaft was cut to size and we measure the dept with a caliper and cut it .25" shorter

I plugged my scanner in and have no pending codes of any kind.. I havent ran it long enough, so it reads the evap and 02 sensors as incomplete... but thats about it....

After I goggle "4L60E shifts 1st then 2nd but not 3rd or 4th" I got a pretty good idea/understanding the clutch bands might be gone...

I called the tranny shop that swapped the output shaft 3 years ago and have done the tranny oil change every year and they said to bring it over but they pretty much said the same thing you are saying George.. Clutch bands on 3rd and 4th are ADIOS.

Im going to pull the TC first and then the tranny after prob this weekend and take it to the shop...
I could take the whole truck to them but I dont feel comfortable doing this....

Yeah, it sucks that tranny went out like this.......Im not happy it went out on me but I am glad it went out now and not in the middle of nowhere....

Any suggestions as to what to upgrade if they do a rebuild? ie shift kit, vette servo....or are these upgrades included on the rebuild.. I know.. I gotta stop by the tranny shop and talk to them first.....

Thanks for the input guys !!!!

BTW... I friend put it best for me..
Tranny's for most people are like black boxes....... I dont know anything about them....

IMO, If you're going inside the tranny, and if there are faulty parts (which seems likely) I'd just get it rebuilt.

the band on a th700/4L60E is only responsibe for second gear. so it's definetly in the clutches.

i'd upgrade to an HD sun gear shell. i'm sure the shop will make the same recommendation. you'll know more once the trans is out and torn apart.

hth

George thanks for the heads up on the Sun Gear Shell....
I will ask if they dont bring it up.......
First, gotta thank Dynosoar for lending a big hand pulling the tranny out...!!!!

Well.... given that this is a project after pulling the shifter, twin sticks, drive shafts and transfer case out.. (((((DAMN))))))we soon realized that we also had to undo the exhaust pipes away from the exhaust manifolds, (((((DAMN))))) cut out the passenger side of the exhaust system ((((DAMN)))))and finally take out the front seats and lift the front of the body about 2" up ((((((DAAAAMN ))))))).
Then the tranny came out nice and easy....

Oil smelled burned up........
I'll be going to the tranny shop tomorrow and selling a kidney to pay for the damn rebuild on this thing !!!! DAMN !!! :crybaby::crybaby:
