Thanks guys..
Tapage, I wish I could change the title..on the thread...

Jon, besides measurements I supplied the pump as Im running a V-8 under the hood.. the builder suggested tapering off the rear of the tank. It looks obvious now but initially I was planning on a square tank..They also suggested two ½" inlets for evap/emissions next to the spout.. again I was thinking I needed to get all 5 or 6 inlets that Toyota tanks have.

Yeah its been fun cutting/welding and making rusty stuff look near new
Im stoked and cant wait to run it on a washboard muddy forgotten road..and get her all dirty.. !!!!

Anybody knows how to pull apart the TRE's out from the rod.
I tried to tackle this job in the afternoon (thinking that it would be a  job )after I finish the front axle but did not get anywhere.. them sucker are in tight n rusty ( Ha !! ) and after trying some twisting, pulling, pushing I gave up...
I put some penetrating oil and will go at it again tomorrow..

Do I need to use a torch ?

Thanks in advance....

Thanks for the info. I'm running a 5.7 Vortec, so I may have some more specific questions for you when the time arises, if you don't mind.

Anybody knows how to pull apart the TRE's out from the rod.

If you're not going to use them again, a pickle fork and good hammer should do you some good. Don't get too crazy with the hammer, though, because misplaced blows hurt like hell. Below is a link to some assorted tools that you may find helpful.

Jon, thanks...
I should of stated the TRE's are out from under the rig.. that was not the hard part... they are thrashed so no worries there.. they just wont budge from the rod... !!

Let me know what you need and I'll try my best.

Aaaah, gotcha. Sorry I can't help with that one. Good luck! :D

just use the torch. If you get it hot enough itl come right out with a light tap. Focus the heat on the rod not the tre.

yup, heat up the old TRE with a torch and spray liberal amounts of PBblaster in the groove so it can soak into the threads on the TRE. they'll come loose eventually.

Well? Did you get them off? I'm going to have to do the TRE's soon and want to know if this works.

Hope it went well!:wrench:

Thanks on the torching advice guys.. I dont have a torch and my Mickey Mouse Vice broke trying to pull this things apart (it was a cheap vice).

Jose, I didn't bother with it today..
Instead Dyno showed up to lend a hand, remember that twin stick T/C set up with got from George a while back.. well we did that instead.
My old set up used to bind up from time to time..
With this set up...............BOY its buttaaaa smooth !!
I'l post pics of it tomorrow afternoon cause I forgot the camera..

Oh yeah.. anybody local with a torch...
If I cant get these off I'll go with DOM threaded rods....
I don think you will have nearly the amount of trouble I had with this.
The TRE's and Rod are rusted and fused shot..
Hell the ones on my '85 LC look new .......

That rig is looking sweet! I love my twin sticks I got from Georg, as well.

We'll definitely need to talk, eventually, about the gas tank. It's going to be after I relocate to San Diego, but I'll want a bigger tank sometime later this year, I hope.

Is that a 4+ rear bumper that you're running? If so, do you have any kind of secondary locks for the swing outs, or are you just running the original latches?

Thanks!

Thanks dudes !!!

OyajiJon.. yes it is a 4+ bumper.. its freaking stout and it went from one latch to two latches..
I often carry a few bikes on the hitch and it kept me from using my bike rack.. so I modded it.
The driver side has the spare and the pass has a box for 3 jerry cans, but now with the bigger tank.. I dont really need the box.....

BTW.. dont bother with the PC on these bumpers.. its crap and flakes out like an old scab with in months...

ya...I got issues with the PC coming off my rear bumper too...so far its mainly on the drivers side pivot / spindle for the spare tire mount.

Thanks for the feedback on the powder coat, you twoz...I'm going to work with Don (FC187), who shares a shop with Georg in Stockton, to cut the rear quarters and build some protection coming off that pocket on either side. I should have the bumper in my possession (via Georg) about two weeks from now, and I'm excited!

Once again, the rig is looking awesome. I'm excited to hear about how it drives when you're done and maybe even meet up to check it out someday!

EDIT: WTF is up with me?! I keep talking about getting "down your way" only to figure out that you're in freaking Alaska...I thought you were in SOCAL! I'm an idiot...

Manuchao is in So. Cal not Alaska (at least not right now).

Dynosoar:zilla:

As far as the torch you can use a small plumbing torch to get the tre's off if you don't have access to a cutting torch. It will still get it hot enough to make it come out pretty easily. I think there under 20$ at home depot.
