After about 2 years spent hoping for circumstances to change I’m putting my 1991 FJ75 Troopy up for sale. Asking 23k, details below:

  • Originally from Kuwait
  • 3F & H55F
  • LHD
  • 316k mi
  • Factory AC & heat, AC needs service
  • Sliding windows all around

Issues I’m aware of:

  • 4 low is stubborn, I knock it into position from under the truck
  • Odometer stopped working for ~5k under my ownership, since resolved, but odo does not show the lost mileage
  • AC is inop, I’ve not investigated the status. Suspect a full refresh will be needed
  • Paint shows signs of bondo surfacing & is chalky, could use a detail if you want shiny paint
  • 12V light is on in the cluster, no charging or battery issue, wiring related - haven’t investigated
  • Needs a headliner & door cards

Selling because I don’t have the space or time to do it justice, sadly it just doesn’t work out with the current living situation and family needs. Background is that I bought it in late 2018 after adopting a cattle dog (perfect excuse to have a troopy join the ‘40 in the fleet). We built out the interior for trips and used it for exploration in the SW 2019-2020. Many trips and great times, ~10k mi on and off road w/o a single hiccup.

I bought it from Edmond on ‘mud who had imported it from Kuwait. From the work I’ve done on it I’d say it is what one should expect of a truck from the Middle East w/ ~300k. Notably it is completely solid body-wise, no rot. That said, it definitely has a recent paintjob w/ bondo. I’ve tried to capture some of the worst bits of the paint in the pics I took. Thread I bought it from is here (has more underbody pics, they’re representative of the truck as it sits):

Improvements done under my ownership:

Tires (255/85r-16 Geolander MTs) & replaced split rim spare
Front seats and new factory floor mat, misc interior trim
New factory seatbelts
Interior build w/ bed, camp kitchen, water tank
Spectrum and Damplifier Pro in interior prior to building sleep setup
Exhaust
Comes w/ many parts/spares that I haven’t gotten to swapping in

I suspect this is the cleanest trip-ready troopy in the US at this price point. I’d hop in it and drive across the country as it has proved extremely reliable in the time we’ve had it. Asking 23k as-is ready to roll w/ Engel, chuckbox, 10 gal water tank. Located in Fountain Hills, AZ. Happy to grab additional pics / provide any additional details, please PM me if interested.

I have seen this truck in person

good luck with the sale

Good luck with your sale!

Quick question for my own knowledge, what's the offset/backspacing and width of those 16" steelies? Do you have any rubbing with those 285/75r16 tires?

Sorry @prwillard2, I mixed up my 33" 16 sizes, they're 255/85-16s on the truck. The wheels are 16x6 w/ 4" backspace, superficial tire touch on the rear inside the wheel well when fully flexed.

@FJ40|RUNNER
I wish you the best. It will go to a new home soon..
Sorry for the circumstances. Glad you got to enjoy the Troopy with your family the past few years..
Thanks @edmond4822, have had a great time with it and hope to have the opportunity to get back into one in the future.

You're in town? Where have you been hiding this? I haven't seen it being driving around at all and I keep my head on a swivel. This is mighty tempting.....

The 3F engine is very reliable. All the guys who have the 3F have not complained at all about the engine on their 75 troopy. Yes, you can upgrade it.

One big advantage about this troopy is that it has the AC and heater components in it. Middle Eastern trucks don't have the heater because the region is very hot. Europeans don't have the AC because the weather there is cold.. This girl has both..
