For those running 35's....

I run some 35x12.5x15 Cooper Discovery's and i have a wandering issue. When i am going down the road and there is a crack or seem in the road i get pulled in and if i fight it i have more issues. What can be done about this or am i stuck with it forever?

What air pressure do you run? Do you have a stablizer on your steering? Both helped my rig track better.

I had a big problem with that when I bought my 40. Had to drive with two hands all the time to keep from being pulled into the other lane. Installed a shackel reversal and one hand on the wheel gets it done. I have soa.

How's your toe-in and castor?

Check: caster, shackle bushings, steering slop, alignment.

I second the toe-in. Grab a tape measure and measure from the distance between the front of your front tires and then compare that to the measurement between the rear of the front tires and hopefully you are about 1/4" less in the front. I use the edge of the lugs as a measuring point. This is a redneck method but it gets you close

i haven"t checked my casters. My tie-rods are good. I think my driver side is toed in a bit. I'll check my casters. i do know i have a little slop in my gear box and that needs to be rebuilt.

Definitely check caster. For toe in/out I usually put the front on stands and pull the wheels. Use a straight edge on both front discs. Aluminum yardsticks work great. One on each side with a friends help and measure distance at the front and rear. Get them close, a little toe in is ok. A very little.

You can't have just one side toed-in because both sides are joined by the tie rod. If it looks like your driver's side is toed in a bit and the passenger side is straight ahead then you do have toe-in and your wheels are turned very slightly to the right.

HAd the same tire. There were very road friendly and never followed ruts. DO you have longer shackles, steering in good shape?

I vote for slop in the gear box as the main culprit.

HFS 4" lift - what else? PS? How are you planning to "check your casters"?

Search for "death wobble" or other caster and front end threads, must be a million of them by now.

What shackles are you running and how long are they? Do you have an angle finder?

Don't forget steering horns. Loose, stretched or sheared will do this as well
