i just called a local tire looking for prices.
i was told they come in 2 plys:confused: i did'nt know this.
8 and 10 ply, and the 10 ply is actually a few bucks less than the 8's.

so the question is, which are you running?
and does the extra 2 plys make any kind of difference?
i have to assume that the 10 ply is less desirible, what with being cheaper.

been buying bfg's for years, and never knew thay made the same tires with different ply counts.

10 ply will have a higher load rating and is a "heavier duty" tire. Sometimes ride suffers a little, with a heavier duty tire. You could check the load ratings on the website, and see what the difference is. the 8 ply is probably "D" rated, and the 10 ply probably has an "E" range load rating.

I have 285/75/16 BFG ATs in the D load rating. They are stiff and heavy enough for my needs (haven't ran them in an E load so I don't know what the difference would be)

D rating AT's are snow rated - the heavier load E ratings are not - probably due to teh tread depth.

I went with the D rated AT's.

GO D!!! I went with load range E and they are heavier and not necessary. I regretted not going with the D range. Good luck and how much are you picking them up for? It sounds like you're at Costco, I went through the same thing there.

well yeah D's are the clear choice.:p pretty good case of bigger not being better.
it's a local mom&pop place, that has bfg as their primary tire. $218ea. otd on the wheel. and if i can find it, i have a "special handshake" card that will get me 10% off.
doubt it's the cheapest, but i like supporting local bussiness.

Agreed on the supporting of local business but they better not be 2/3rds higher either otherwise...see ya.
