79 FJ55 For Sale

It's time to sell my 1979 FJ-55 with 138,000 miles. It has rare factory power steering and ac. This cruiser runs and drives excellent. The engine, clutch, brakes and front and rear axel were professionally rebuilt (Wimberley Off Road) within the last 6k miles. There are no leaks throughout the drivetrain and it dosen't use any oil. The original smog equipment is intact and in good condition. The body is straight. There are some rust bubbles starting to show on the driver side running boards and rear corners. The intior is in good shape and the rear window works fine. It is currently inspected and registered in Texas. The title is clear and in my posession. Please contact me for more info or pics. Thanks, Colby (423)426-2791 $6500 obo

1987 FJ60 For Sale

This is the second Cruiser that I have had the priveledge of owning. My first was a 78 fj40 which I lost to a fire when I was 19. I was fortunate enough to find my fj60 soon after which was still owned by the 1st owner. It has been my primary driver from 1993 to 2003. The reason I am selling is because I want to get back into the fj40 game.

As far as the body goes , she is blue and does have some rust and dents in the lower tailgate along with a dent in the left hind quarter panel that is low and not too terribly noticeable. It was dented when I bought it and I neglected to fix it ,so rust set in on the tailgate but is minimal on the rest of the truck.

Mechanically, I can't complain, but still want to inform ya'll of some work. The biggest and most expensive thing I had to replace is the transmission because the old one would slip out of first gear. Aside from that , I have replaced the radiator, master/slave cylinder, battery and alternator. The 4 wheel drive works great and it will also run strong on the highway. A few added features are the Alpine radio and tape deck with Boston acoustic speakers in the front doors and sony 6x9's in the back. I will also include the Yakima roof rack and the fire extinguisher in the back. The tires are on/off road and fairly new. Also, The interior has been well kept .

It has 170,000 miles and I am asking $5800 obo.

He will probably want to know if you have any daughters!

Can I get some more info?

I was wondering if you had any pics? And could I get some more info such as mileage, interior condition? Thanks.
Todd

I actually don't have any pics yet , but will be posting them as soon I get my hands on a digital camera which may be this weekend. The interior is very nice, and it has 170,000 miles on it.

Boy i wish i had the money to buy this butiful FJ.

Somone has to want this thing. only $3000 wow. i would pay even $4000....

Don't rule out a 60 series. They look a little bland when they are stock to the untrained eye, but they make great rigs for trips that require a little gear and you can sleep in the back for overnighters. They are all Cruiser underneath their unassuming exterior and with a few simple mods they make great machines.

That seems like a fair deal on Polarweasel's 40 from the description and pics. Plus it's great excuse to come back out to Colorado, pick up your new rig, spend a few great September days in the mountains flyfishing and drinking all the beer from his fridge.

I definitely agree with Gulp on the 60 recommendation, too. They certainly won't go everywhere a 40 will, just due to the size, but damn there's a lot more room in 'em!

Now about that beer... You were gonna bring some over to help stock the fridge when Brad comes out, weren't you, Gulp? :flipoff2:

Looking For My 1st Fj40 Or Bj42 Please Help!!!

I Am A Toyota Land Cruiser Newbie....i Am Very Much Interested In Either A Fj40 Or Bj42 1979 And Newer!!!can Anyone Tell Me The Pros And Cons About The 3b Engine That The Bj's Have Other Than Being Diesel? I Have Heard They Are Alot Stronger, More Reliable....are There Any Other Differences In These Vehicles?what Is The Average Cost Of A Decent One.....again, Thanks For You Patience With Me And All Your Help

Respectfully,

Jf40/bj42 Wannabe....................

Tell us where you live and we might be able to put you in touch with people who can help.

I actually live in Golden, Colorado......I would prefer something 1979 and newer....Just dont know much about the differences between fj40 and a bj42....thanks

pro's is that the 3b is a stout little engine. Problem in denver is that it's anemic in the mountians.. maybe worst than my 2f with larger tires and etc. I wouldn't have a 3b for a daily driver. Parts are a little more difficult to get or may take a bit longer but are obtainable. Generally BJ's go for more money than the average cruiser bc of the cool diesel factor. Cost varies greatly depending on condition just as the average cruiser does. Otherwise the bj42's kick serious butt if you like diesel and cruisers.
