There is a big cruiser community here. Wes and I are both members of the rising Sun 4x4 club which is strictly Toyota's. We meet the 1st weds of the month at Stevinson Toyota right near you. There are a lot of other resources available locally for parts, know-how etc.

If your looking for a toy, an FJ40 is great. Some people use them as DD, but they were not built fo comfort. As far as going on the trails, I don't think there is a better rig out there (IMOP)

Do a search on this site and you will see lots of advice. I would get a 76 or newer cruiser. When you have questions, a lot of us can help you.

I am in Evans just south of Greeley. The body that is on it right now is pretty rusty, actually from the seats back is where all of the rust is. But i do have a pretty nice tub for it, the good tub will need a little bit of work, mostly the rear sil like most cruisers, needs to be replaced, but the good tub is really solid overall, this would be the perfect opportunity to work on the good tub, rhino line it etc and drive this in the meantime.
Send me your E-mail address and i will try to send some pics tonight.

wtb: fj 40 or 45 in British Columbia

hey guys, first post here, so bare with me, im looking for a fj40 or fj45 here in BC. i dont know if there are even any members up here in the great white north! but anyways i had a 74 fj40 a couple years ago until the tired old 6 cyl went for a crap, shouldve kept the rig and put a small block in it but i was stupid and just got rid of it, every day since ive been kicking myself and i want another, this time though id like to find one that has the small block conversion allready done, im willing to spend at the most 10 grand cdn, i know i wont get anything crazy for this but i just want a solid daily driver, so if anyone knows of anything please give me the heads up, id appreciate it ,

thanks in advance,

Derek

Hi Derek, Welcome to the board, I am sure someone can help you out

I mean slow and no power under the pedal. The 3b is a naturally aspirated diesel (idi). They tend to suffer at altitude more than DI. The 3b has only 98 vs 135 with a 2f. The torque is 23kgm and the 2f is 29. Don't get me wrong it a great engine but it's not really more powerful or stronger than the 2f. maybe in terms of durability but not in performance. You will desperatly want a turbo. I have a feeling i'll be left beind getting to the trail on the highway. Now if you keep it stock and with little tires you probably won't have too much of a problem but who does that? I have 8ply 31 that are heavy.. I'm hoping to swap in some 4.11's this weekend as i'm not even using 5th unless i'm coming out of the Tunnel :(
