With the 100 Series a single wire in the master light switch can be modified to allow use of the fog lamps in expanded scenarios, i.e. run them in park, low beam or high beam. Has anyone figured out such a thing with the 200?

I have done it on GS350 and I am sure can be done on any car. I wanted fog lights to be as DRLs (put LEDs there). I did a quick set up without a switch to turn them on/off but to be always on. I have disconnected bulb factory harness and put a new/independent harness (Ebay) and connected to fusebox (fuse that comes on with ignition). Of course you can add a switch to control it. Only issue the original fog lights switch didn't work anymore.

IIRC, there was a similar mod for the 4th Gen 4Runner. I never did it myself, though.

Based on the EWD, looks like a simple mod.

First the disclaimer: I would not perform this mod without verifying functions and it's safety with a DMM and I cannot be held responsible for individual results contrary to the desired end result:flipoff2:

It's not something I have a desire to do, so I probably won't look into this on my own vehicle either;)

Here goes: Cut two wires and reconnect, bypassing the Main Body ECU

I love the disclaimer!

In another model I'm familiar with (IS300), all we did was jump a wire in the fuse area, rather than having to cut anything. I wonder in the diagram above, if a simple jumper is all that's needed?

It's absolutely possible. What this would cause is back feeding voltage into the input of the CPU, which is set up to "see" ground on its input. May be a problem, may not...

Awesome, I'lll take a peak at that diagram and the plug location.

Hey Kurt,

Do us special-needs electricians a favor and include photos (or a link to them?) when you put together the door hatch kit, etc. :hillbilly:

Anyone figure this out yet? I'd like to swap my high beams for LED bulbs, which makes them useless for DRL's (as they run full brightness in DRL mode). Could use the fogs as DRL's.

Still on my hitlist. Honestly I've not spent any time tinkering with it yet.

From my read of the EWD the low side of the fog relay is drawing power from the tail light circuit causing the fogs to only turn when the tail lamps are on (headlights or parking lights on).

If my read is correct then you want to disconnect at pin 2 of the FR FOG relay and reconnect to ignition switched 12V. The 4runner guys do this by bending the tab out and using a spade terminal:

Same disclaimer as above ;)

Still on my to do list. Can't wait to see my 200 again let alone drive it and tinker with it :D

Can you reference the page where this is located, please? I can't seem to find it...
