Apologies for my absence. I have given up and took her to the shop that did the head gasket. Got a call from them today that they agree she’s running hot but can’t pinpoint why. Words were said that “this just might be the new baseline”...

Yes, yes, yes, no....but I did have the oil tested by Blackstone after my oil change a couple of months ago and no problems noted.

That seems about right... normal, nominal to me. The ECU temp sensor is in the middle of the head (more or less) on the left hand side. The back of the head is generally the hottest area of the engine. That is why the heater hose feeds from...

I haven't gotten to the thermostat yet as I'm waiting on a new one to arrive, for the cost I thought I would just replace it. I also ordered a new ECU coolant sensor. I will also get the radiator cleaning wand linked previously because it can't...

Ok, i'll do couple of WAGs and see what works. So, you're radiator is brand new and you now have 30k CST fan clutch fluid (it's a band aid, not needed in DEN) and you're still pegging the heatOmeter. You should have serious air flow, and you...

Radiator is brand new, no dirt to speak of yet. But thank you!

A while back I brokered a deal on an FJ60 for the daughter of one of our Mud members here when she came to Alaska for the summer right after she graduated college. It is actually a pretty long and interesting story but I'll stick to the sorta...

Yeah I know, not the most precise instrument, but I’m pulling my hair out here lol. I trust the scangauge, it’s the sensor that I question because of all the work that’s been done otherwise to refurbish the cooling system. If I were to get an...

I assumed it might have been something like that, which is why I verified before heading off down a rabbit hole. ;) I think we can trust those numbers and. Which rules out a couple of easy answers. :( Mark...

Update: So I did the 30k oil in the Landtank modified fan clutch and sure enough I still hit 220 on my test drive in the mountains. I'm surprised because it's definitely much harder to spin now by hand. I'm wondering if I added too much or too...

@mindcrash : You could leave the Tstat out and go for a drive to check where the temps go ie: the engine should run too cool (less than ~190F) without the Tstat. IMO/IME there's any question about the Tstat (function) might as well replace it.

I was hoping to avoid this but will give it a shot. The 30k oil should be here tomorrow.

Tried and failed tonight. I pulled the sensor and did the same test drive and still got up to 222. This was also in the evening and it was only 60 degrees out so I’m going to say the cats are fine (the forward is brand new).

OEM Blue Hub modified by Landtank It spins by hand but does not spin freely - as in when I remove my hand it stops spinning. Yes, there's a whoosh. I installed foam around the sides and bottom of the fan shroud. Red coolant, brand new. Unknown -...

I apologize as I know this has been covered ad-nauseum, but posting here is my last resort before taking it to a shop. I've consumed every overheating thread I can find and none of the solutions have helped. I'm still running too hot when...
