Don't worry about it Delancy the whole point of a forum is to bat around ideas. People will either read what you write and think it over and respond or they won't. If it's getting attention it isn't attention whoring, it is just a something people are either interested in or want to help with.

I agree, either people read it or don't. I did not realize that their was such a difference between the nort american market 80's and the rest of the world, or at least Oz 80's. So it has been tech and informative. I read and like it so keep it coming. Just my 2 cents.

This thread is train wreck and doubt you'll find resolution in it; IMHO. I would close it. It won't be deleted so the info would remain. You obliviously have been talking to the big players in the game. I would take that communication to a personal level via email and other comm. Again that's just my opinion. Otherwise you're just being an attention whore.

These are the only threads worth reading in the 80 section these days and it's amazing to see the big players post their advice on a public forum. I have to back up Delancy as there are very few people on this forum trying something new and different in the 80 section.

Ryan,
Do not feel left out as I read and stay up to date on your build thread as well. Off to EMS, just a little jealous...

This thread is no different to life in general, some good, some bad, some worth reading, the odd nugget of gold, and plenty of crap.

Being able to filter it so the nuggets (which can be different for each person) are what you collect, is the bit that keeps us reading.

I think this thread has many nuggets from many posters within it, and I think if its left open, people will be able to continue to update it, as they try different stuff, especially if something from here started them thinking "what if...."

Why not just do coilovers? You can dial in everything your after? Do it once and be done you've already said you would eventually get them I believe in aearlier post

Didn't want to poke holes through the floor, nor want more than 4" lift.

Don't know for certain, but for the overall shock travel numbers, coil-overs would be relatively large, using 3"X600-700lb coil.

Assumptions though.

There's a 3 link build on PBB using some components I've never heard of but a 4" coil over with bypass/bump built in and all in a edible package....but think they're big $$$$ race shocks.

Why would you have to cut into the floors? We ran custom coil overs on my buddy's and have right at 4 inches of lift, went with king called them up told them what wanted and they made it happened, if you wanted to get really creative you could run the rear like the double throw down kit for the jk

What about Jodo's build on the black low mile LX? I've enjoyed the informational part of this thread. Other stuff just waists space. I wish you were sticking to your original 4 inch goal. I need a soft ride 80 lift that will do dual street/trail use so I have similar goals. I just don't want to get this complex with the build. Dont want to swap axles or weld for that matter. I don't know how well Jodo's rig panned out but was a beautifully executed one. I need bolt on. Right now I'm installing OME heavy 2.5 with heavy front and rear bumpers and 33's. if this doesn't cut it ill change. I wish I lived near Slee, he would be building mine.

I've not seen a rear CO'd 5 link Yota without cutting floorboards and fabbing towers inside the cargo bay, nor can I see how possible, but all about being educated on.

In a brief communication with MetalCloak, it was determined the extra ton of steel on the 80, versus the platform they build both their long travel coils and 6 pack (??) shocks for, negated not only the ability (coils) to suspended, but interest in pursuing the 80 platform further.

The 6 pack (??) shock concept is cool, but I don't know if they'd fit without modification. At that point, if fabbing up mounts, COs would be a better option, for me.

Believe a y link, which may necessitate more so than any radius armed suspension. The flexibility

When I discussed with an unnamed player in the suspension game, :flipoff2: it was determined that it wasn't worth the effort unless going 3 link front and rear, which wasn't willing to undertake at the time.

I've enjoyed the informational part of this thread.

Other stuff just waists space.

I'm pushing 34". Not wanting to gain much more.

I wish you were sticking to your original 4 inch goal. I need a soft ride 80 lift that will do dual street/trail use so I have similar goals.

I believe that I'd be able to tell you with certainty what coils to order, with the notation that a front and rear 15mm spacer may be required to compensate for the cruiser lean.

After I receive these two newest coils, and measure, would have a sound basis for which to gauge lift height versus flexy part number, on a lightweight US 80 series, confidently.

I just don't want to get this complex with the build.

The complexity is the OPs fault.

I need bolt on. Right now

4" lift Flexy's with Radflo's all bolts on.

Swapped the PS rear to DS and swapped in a 555 to PS.

Lessened the rake dramatically. Butt dyno claims a noticeable decrease in nose diving, lessened body roll, and more level stance.

Have about seventeen miles on the one new coil, so will give it a bit before posting a confirmed measurement, but it's around 3/4" lower than previous, which I'll live with.

Radflo's are on and transformed the ride, altogether.

Won't junk up the thread with shock crap, but it's a completely different experience, to say the least.

Chris, that pic, how much fuel do you have in it?

Just looks likes its a tad to high in the rear for me, have you thought about using a different coil in the back ?

For the record, I was perusing this thread attempting to find the measurements I took of shock lengths with the axle completely extended when I happened upon this:

Pretty much, my response was saying "touché"
