I have 5.3 vortex and a 4 person tent on top, OEM lift and 33s. It seems to sway a lot, and shakes around 70+. Everything from the body down is new, hoping for swaybar ideas to limit the swaying

I know the shaking isn’t, but I’m only trying to fix one problem at a time, it’s going to the alignment shop this week to check everything out

Addco used to be the go to for upgrades to sway bars. They list an early 60 series rear bar

so mine drove like crap when I got it...fix:

- OME suspension kit = helped a lot
-new KO2- took out the shaking at high speeds- I had a lot of cupping despite having a lot of tread left
- new TREs and drag link- improved handling and road wandering...really, really helped
-replaced front stabilizer sway bar links--- bushings were shot and you can pick these up cheap on ebay from a seller in AUS

I am confident running down the road at 70mph now. I sill have some sway and could use some help around long windy country roads. I have seen a rear sway bar option posted by someone but never got any follow up when I asked him about it. Will be something I explore.

I can drive 70-80, everything from the body down is new, i believe the tent is just catching wind maybe

Fj62.... You should have a rear sway bar already. You are looking for one heavier duty? I would think airbags would be a slick setup.

I have an 83 60....with everything done to mine listed it developed the shake after and it totally went away after I replaced the tires on it with new KO2s. Apparently there was major cupping in the tires despite having lots of thread left on it.

But you aren’t the OP. @Joe777 asked the question.

Couple thoughts.....
Try to reduce the roof weight, maybe alloy roof rack?
Upgrade to 80 sway bars/axles?
Don’t know anything about airbags, just seems like they’d make it ride really rough.

yeah, that info was for Joe's benefit.....not sure how your comment added anything that would benefit his question about vibration at high speeds. Feel free to add helpful info like what you did to fix a similar problem...kind of how this works.

Here is an 80 front swaybar mounted forward facing on a 80 rear axle (under a 60). Also a note, the owner is running a airbag set up in the rear to help with a drawer set-up, roof rack, and Alucab RTT.

If your willing to have a not direct swap option. This may be a option for you.

And to give you a comparison of the OEM 60/80 swaybars

(You want a front sway bar upgrade before rear)
