Hello everyone.
I hope I'm doing this correctly! I have a 1989 FJ62 Land Cruiser that I bought in 2021. My buddy Geoff owned Blue Ox Overland in Colorado and rented a fleet of four out. After COVID, he decided to downsize and I put my hand up immediately. Had about 180k at the time, give or take, and I now have it close to 200k. It came with CCOT lift kit, some body restoration, 31" GFG RT tires, a custom rooftop rack, sunshade, a tent, ARB bull bar and I'm probably forgetting more.
Since I bought it, I've been learning a lot about wrenching and wrestling this beast. In 2022, I slammed into a Ford Expedition that pulled out in front of me in Sedona. The ARB bull bar might have saved my life, along with my wife and dog, but didn't prevent us from blasting a rock on the side of the road and busting one of the BFG RT's. Gladly, all I needed to do was back out in 4L and put my spare on. But BFG discontinued the RT's, so I had a choice. I decided to upgrade to 33" BFG AT KO2s with new 15x10.5 steel wheels. If anyone needs a set of five OEM 15x9 (I think 9 is correct), I got them in my yard.
I've done a bunch of work. New heavy-duty OME rear leaf springs, since my wife was loading down the back with too much stuff. Gave me a ton more clearance in the back. Had a busted air hose into the engine, easy fix. Replaced the front lockers, since one was busted. New front brakes (at a shop). New LED headlights that were made for old Chevy's but fit the rig perfect. E-brake fix. Still have the old tractor in-line 6, no upgrades there. I'm a slow mechanic! Oil pan probably needs replacing, along with some other stuff I'll get to soon.
Last November, I was in Hanksville and busted my master control switch. Replaced it today with a new part, but my passenger front door still not working (all others now work again). Any advice on how to diagnose the issue? Maybe just replace the regulator and motor?
