that reminds me, did I ask if it'll be ready for pick-up tomorrow![]()
VERY cool, I don't know how I missed this thread until know...
A couple of questions...
1. I see a bunch of talk of using the Toybox on the H55F, does Marlin have the H55F output shaft made for his Toybox yet? I didn't see it on his site but I have heard it was coming sooner or later. I've considered reworking my 62 if the option was available, I wish I had the room in my 40 but it looks like the Marks 4WD Aus. gears are the only low range option in the SWB setup.
2. Pilot bearing, does the 3FE pilot bearing OD match that of a standard 2F? For some reason I thought that it was slightly larger?? I seem to remember this being an issue in past conversions...
3. Flywheel bolts, once again I seem to remember the 3FE crank having slightly larger bolts than the 2F flywheel had, thus the 2F flywheel had to be drilled out to the larger size, am I up in the night again??
Earlier in the thread there was some confusion as to the output splines on trannies... 3 spd trans = 10 spl, H42 in FJ40/55 to 1980 = 16 spline, H42 8/80' & later = 19 spline

Great thread, I'm excited to see how it turns out![]()
hey kurt.
i can't answer all these questions for you. but here's what i know:
1) not sure if they're available yet. brett did all the leg work with marlin regarding the h55f. i think marlin was working on the shaft but it was'nt available yet.
2) the pilot bearing fit perfect. had to tap it in the same way they normally require.
3) yes, the crank bolts are slightly different. i reused the FJ62 flex plate bolts. they are the right thread ( dooh) and the length works out well also. even though the standard flywheel is a little thicker than the flex plate, they're still long enough to reach the bottom of the holes in the crank. the flexplate uses two spacers and is slightly thicker than the domestic flex plates i've encountered so the difference in thickness between the flexplate setup and the flywheel is negligeable (sp?!).
