i seriously doubt it. there are just too many different variations and the way they're designed, he really builds them "onto" the frame for each application. we've discussed it and it would be too much hassle to try to come up with something even remotely "universal".

besides, here's our definition of "universal": something that made to work with different applications with some mods. but it won't really work with anything the way it is. in other words: useless!

It's really a great design... how low under the frame rails does it sit?

i'd say about 5 inches. i will measure it on monday when i'm back at the shop. :)

Georg,

I'm SO frikken stoaked...damn that looks good! Don did an awesome job on the X-member...that thing looks smokin. I get more and more excited every day thinking about getting this thing done and actually wheeling it. Should be very interesting to see how the test drive goes. I can prolly sneak out of the office middle of next week..maybe I should pop down for the inaugural test drive? I 'm so pumped to drive this thing...kinda reminds me of when I was eight years old and I spolied Christmas by opening my Dukes of Hazzard action figure set:grinpimp: :flipoff2:

Major Hijack here... is that an old Honda twin in your shop??? CB450?

sorry, can't help it.

Takes me back to my youth. I had a CB 175-it looked just like that and I dreamed of a CB350. Then a neighbor lets me use his CB360 for a year while I was in college. I loved both of those bikes. Later I had a Kawi 500 2 stroke with a power band about 200 rpm wide, then a CB 900 (totally awesome amazing motorcycle) before parenthood shut it all down. That looks like a really nice example of an original CB360. Good find.

dude! that thing was a basket case whenI first got it.

pipes rotted off, carbs screwed, duct tape seat, brocken/mis matched mirrors, dented up/ spray painted tank/ been layed down at least 3 times/ missing side covers/ missing emblems/ cracked tires.

got it for $120 :D

allot of ebay got it where its at:beer:

post a pic of the "other" tank bro! :grinpimp:

bitchin bike!!!!! :bounce:

don, post a pic of the "other other" tank up on the shelf.....

Elsinore Eh??? Take off ;)

I am trying to remember Honda's nomenclature from that era. I had a CB 175 which ment the pipes were low, like on the 360 above.

With the pipes up and over the side like philos1, it was CL or something like that. My 175 was a 71 and had a front drum. The 360 I had on extended loan had a disk. Believe it or not, I rode that 175 from Minnesota to Virginia in 4 days in August 1979. It was wrung out the whole way and never skipped a beat. I stayed off the freeways and mostly had a blast even though I never went over 65 mph. Those were the days.

Very nice bikes there. Is the 160 the same as the "Dream"?

alright, now it's back to the regularly scheduled program. in other words, hijack over! ;p

IT"S ALIVE! i had done some research in my factory workshop manual and was able to figure out that you really only need to jump one connector for the neutral safety switch to get the system to work. so now the neutral switch is bypassed and it runs. the way i set it up, the cruiser will start in any gear. in this application, that's fine since the rig will be wheeled and sometimes it's a good thing to be able to start a vehicle in gear. you just have to keep it in mind at all times.....
so i got it started. runs fine but with half the exhaust removed it's kinda loud. and the engine did'nt run perfect since the O2 sensors were just dangling without being attached to the exhast system, or what was left of it anyways.
got the 62 loaded on the trailer and took it to the exhaust shop yesterday. there it received a new 2-into-1 collector, then single 2 1/4" pipe to a stainless dynaflow muffelr and out the rear like the stock exhaust routing. the stock Os sensors were installed and the exhaust was run inside the frame to protect it. the rear section was also tucked up higher to keep it out of harms way.
went back to the exhaust shop later in the day and picked up the cruiser. drove it back to the shop. runs really well, even sounds a bit better. first imperssion was really good!:)
i did have some extra road noise cause the front carpet and trans tunnel are still out of it. but the shifting was smooth, the power felt good. overall, i'm really happy with how it turned out. now i need to build a twin stick shifter for the split case and cut the tunnel some more to allow the toybox shifters' full motion.
i'll try to post some more pics latertoday or tomorrow. if everything goes as planned, brett will be able to come get his cruiser this weekend.

What did you do for the bungs for the 02 sensors in the new exhaust? Im redoing mine next week with ubends and a 2 to 1 collector inside the frame and im not sure where to source some bungs. Did the exhaust shop just have them lying around?

i discussed that topic with don at the exhaust shop. the replacement bugs are only available from toyota with the partial exhaust system. waaaaay too expensive.
so we decided to go with plan B. cut the old bungs out and re-use them. done carefully, it works really well and looks clean. i'll try to get some pics of the O2s as well.
