I wish this discussion had been around when I was dealing with my FLs. I think the Toyota design is unnecessarily bulky, so I set about simplifying it. IIRC there are 5 FLs using 3 different amperage ratings. I simply terminated a length of the appropriately rated FL wire with a ring terminal and a spade connector (I think one of them needs a ring on both ends?). I added a length of silicone/fiberglass sheathing to avoid burn-through, and some nice shrink tube ends. I think these ended up costing a couple of $ each. The bundle slides into a length of wire look to protect it.

The idea was to not overcomplicate, keep as much of the vehicle-side wiring intact, reduce bulk, and do it all affordably. I ran these for 6 years with no problems.

I love the rugged solutions offered by some of the 'Mudders here, the Toyota design definitely has room for improvement. I chose the "light and cheap" path because I had 99% stock wiring.

I’ve sold my 62 but I have a few of these left over if anyone wants them. PM me.
