I’m curious what types of speakers people are using and where y’all are putting them. I’ve been running without sound for nearly two years and it’s time for that to change. The truck had a killer sound system when I bought it, but the two 12” subs, dual amps, and dual capacitors took up way too much room in the back so I removed them. I currently have good speakers and tweeters in the front doors and a good head unit.

Here are some of my thoughts:
  • Don’t want to cut into other panels
  • Would like “low profile” or something out-of-the-way
  • Good full sound, but don’t need for everyone on the street to hear me.
I’ve looked into an under-seat 8” sub/amp combo for under the driver seat, but that would make it to where there were no speakers behind the front seats.

Alpine PWE-S8

Thoughts? What are y’all using? What should I avoid?

I did an 8" kicker under the passenger seat, sounds great - but solo it would suck. I've got Infinity 6" in the front doors and 6x9 Infinity in the cargo panels.

Put some small speaker boxes for 6x9’s in the rear storage area.
About the only thing you can do if you don’t want to cut in your panels. That 8”sub would help out too under a seat.
You could put some in the tailgate, but that would require cutting the metal and you would bang them up loading and loading anything.

I have Focal 6” and tweeters in the front doors. Wonder how it would sound with just those and the 8” sub.

Not to the point of installing speakers in my build yet but I have been looking at illusion audio since they have slim speakers for the front doors.

I've done those with 6" in the rear and a BUS25 under the drivers seat. It satisfied me

6 1/2 component system in the front, 6 1/2 in the back, 8" Sound Ordnance powered sub in place of the rear heater under the passenger's seat. Does exactly what I needed. Not a teenage booming rattle trap but loud enough to justify $450 for the lot.
