Materials:

  1. "L" bracket 3"x4"x4"
  2. Saginaw pump. I got mine for free helping a friend pull a transmission.
  3. Jegs gm saginaw bracket 60702 http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/60702/10002/-1
  4. Spacers; one - 1/4" between jegs bracket and pump bottome hole, two - 3/4" bracket between jegs bracket and "L" bracket.
  5. Two more gates 9500 V-belt. Removed smog belt and alternator belt. Installed 1st - V-belt to alternator->water pump->crank pulley. 2nd V-belt to saginaw pump->water pump->crank pulley. The other one stays the same. They all have the same belt now.

Looks better than my bracket (a Mark's Offroad bracket for an FJ40's 2F which I modified/added lots of spacers to).

If mine wasn't so solid (and such a pain to finally get bolted in), I'd switch over just because yours looks so much cleaner.

Looks good

so it used the middle groove? I like it...how does it track? any wobbly bobbly? super simple, good work.

post up a picture from the side view, showing the ps pump and belt alignment.

Do you know what the pump was out of?

Just a big thanks to dj for putting this thread together. Overall, not difficult, just tedious. Depending on where your bracket ends up will determine spacers needed. The jegs brkt is a must. Also cool that the new setup uses two identical length belts now. Gates B48 is used from water pump to alt to crank and belt#2 water pump, crank then ps pump.

I think this may be the easiest route I've seen.

Yeah, some other cool things. The threaded fitting on the stock toyota line threads right into the Saginaw pump. Even my return line was just long enough to reach. I reused my old pulley & had to have it bored out to fit the saginaw shaft dia.

I'm by no way a fabricator, but I would be a little concerned about not having a gusset on the angle iron. Seems like the torque would want to try and straighten it. I'm sure someone who is a fabricator will chime in...

That angle iron is beefy... and there is not a huge amount of torque on it, just the belt tension... but that said I'd probably add a gusset... why not.

If there WAS that much torque it would probably deform the pump body first....
