If you have a three speed floorshift type of shifter (not the vacuum type) the only difference between the operating rod to the shift fork is the length. So, if you're desperate, it's probably possible to make a longer input rod for the three speed shift assembly out of steel stock. It needs about 2" more length to work with the four speed floor shifter.

Is it a for sure thing that the 3 speed shift mechanism won't work with 3 speed floor shifter? I doubt it. Both shift exactly the same way inside the front tail housing.

Thanks Honk, I haven't taken it out yet to really see what can be done. (I've been having WAY to much fun driving it this spring and didn't want it parked while I look for parts.) I didn't really think of the fabbing posibility, that sounds like it may have promise. I'm getting down to the wire and need it for a trip in 6 weeks, so I should just bite the bullet and start tearing it apart.

I think I might have you covered. I'll take a pic and post up tomorrow or later today. I have a 4 speed tcase shifter and linkage.

WTB 72 Windshield Wiper Part

I need to get the cable that connects the 2 winshield wipers together. Does anyone have this part new/used that they would like to sell? Or know of a good fix for this? Thanks.

For what year?

I have a complete OEM bumper off a 10/1995 '80. I'm not sure if the bumper corners are the same on all years. These corners are grey. I'd be willing to sell - cheap - all the plastic and mounting parts off the bumper. The bumper itself has a few storage-related scratches and two small dents. The plastic parts are in good+ condition. If I find someone that needs any of the decent parts off the bumper it will give me a reason to finally get rid of the rest . . .

That depends on many things such as condition, year, etc. I got over 2K in the body work and paint alone on mine which included rust-free doors from AZ. Not sure on the years. I do know 75-78 are the same with the exception of rear vent windows added in I believe 78. Post this to the tech area and many will know interchangability. All 75 and later had what many call ambulance doors (side-by-side) hinged on the sides. Pre-75 had tailgates (one or 2 piece depending on year) and a hatch that pivotted at the top. Hope this helps.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I'll post in Tech when I get closer to picking up a 40. I just see some soft tops don't come with a hard top and just wanna get my budget figured out. (aka approval from the Missus)

i've seen them as low as free (usually a case of beer though), to as high as $800, but i don't know if anyone's ever sold them for that much. i usually get $250-300 for a good top.
