Just finished the build of my 1969 pig. On my second shake out test drive I took my wife with me whose only request during the build was she needed air conditioning…we live in Vegas. She liked the drive but about 25 miles in she said “where are the cup holders?”

I found the FJ40 cup holder thread which had some good ideas, but I am concerned about the transmission shifter and the front of the bench seat. I am hoping that all you pig owners will post pictures of your cup holder solutions. I suppose one of you will post the roll of duct tape sitting on the trans tunnel.

Growing up we used to have cup holders that went down in front of the bench seat like this.

Those left plenty of room for the shifter; only the passenger had to time when they grabbed for the cup.

I’ve been planning on installing these for 45 years. I went into my parts room and went directly to these on the shelf in the dark. Still wondering when I’m going to install.. Wondering gets better with age, kinda like wine, or was it wife??? And finding things in the dark!!!

I have been look at the tuffy cup holder too. Mount area would be to the bottom of the bench seat with an easy custom bracket. Not sure how big a cup the two slots would hold. Would like a 32oz gas station cup or larger or a larger Yeti or similar cold cup.

Saw this in the 40 cup holder thread. Would be super easy to make out of scrap metal and mount to bottom of the bench seat frame. Probably could get fancy and figure out how to make it fold down when not in use.

@Hank Tank I over think everything, so until I decide on a final solution, I ordered a two pack of your window/door hanging holders for $12 from Amazon. Might be using them 45 years later like Gordon having his solution still on the shelf. LOL

David, I put that exact cup holder in my 45. I used a $3 velcro strip from Walmart to mount it between the shifter and the seat. Works great. The diameter of the cup holder is a little less than 3.5".

After 49 years of landcruising I believe the least place of agitation for liquid matter is as reply # 25 shows (120mm). A vertical flat surface to mount them to. When not in use they are out of the way. Thats basically the center of the universe of the gyroscoping effect of a pig gone wild.

But give me another 49 years to evaluate it a bit more

My ol pal @RHINO had one of those cheapie cup holders on the passenger door, and somehow it just worked. Tried mounting the same thing on a raft frame one time - not so much….

That holder would probably work well on the trans hump

I’ve got the Tuffy mounted in front of a console, they fit a 10oz tumbler & 20 oz Yeti ok but the big 32 oz gets knocked by the shifter. My truck has a H55, 1st & R will be against your cup
