Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone, i have 2 simple questions. Hope somebody can help me. :)

  1. I have an FJ55, the paper said it is from 1968, however the engine of this FJ55 is H-Engine (or 2H?) with engine number "H 145XX". As i browsed to the online world, ive noticed that FJ55 from this year supposed to have an F engine. So my question, is this car original made from the factory? Are there 1968 FJ55 with H engine produced by TOYOTA?
  2. What is the difference between H and 2H engine in terms of Engine Number? If i have Toyota Engine with numbers "H 145XX" and "H 200XX", are they the same type? Or the previous is H engine and the later is 2H engine?
Thats all mate, i hope somebody can answer my confusion. Thanks and cheers... :)

hi John, my frame number is FJ55103XX.

So do you know any information that might help me? Its written on the paper, im just curious whether it is original from the factory or not... thanks

If it were original, the VIN would be "HJ-55XXXXX".

H production ran from ~'72 through '80, after your '68 production date, which furthers the case for it being swapped.

To my knowledge, there's no instance of any diesel Pigs.

Edited: it's an H as the Engine ID would be stamped "2H", as they are F and 2F, respectively.

VIN under the hood should have info on the type of engine it left the factory with. But with F in the VIN a 68 in the US market got a F145 with a one barrel carburetor.

I've not seen even a hint of evidence, very little speculation that there were ever Pigs that weren't F powered, in OE form.

Same goes for H42/H55 with BF1As.....they never existed in OE form, in any market, for the 55 platform.

Edited: BUT the baddest assed Pig one could dream of, would start with HZJ...

There were BJ55s. And I laughed when I saw "68 in the US market" because in 1968 there was no US market for 55s.

Dear GinericLC, i see... thanks for the infos.. however if my car is supposed to be BJ55, isnt the frame number supposed to be BJ55XX? Also are there B machine? Thanks

There were BJ55s.

Rumored, logical, yet as elusive as the factory HZ-T.....

Yes, it makes sense, but there's no evidence to support, at least, I've never seen a VIN that began with BJ55.

I would assume an HJ55 would've been an reality, more so than the B, but never existed even in the flagship 56s in Japan.

This "high roof" pig has what appears to be an H, two things I have not seen on a 55 before.

It has an ex military or police look to it, which means it was probably modified for service.

Man, I like that high roof. Would have helped me with the roof frame thing, I built.

Thanks for posting!

That's the second or third with a Troopy-ish roof and seating that's been posted from Costa Rica.

Wonder if government/military spec'd?

@Tapage, you see many Pigs there? Seen any that were BJ or HJ in OE form?

I was under the impression that HJ'S were a RHD diesel platform, while the BJ was a LHD platform. You notice the exhaust exits under the driver in those pics, but usually it should go under the passenger.
