That spare is the original rk3!! Talk about a survivor! Glad to see you rescue dump! It really looks pretty darn good for what it went through. I think the sheet metal is all good!

I know you probably dont need me telling you this but guys saying some parts are rare isn't really that true. We have s***loads of these in Australia and parts arnt that rare, you just gotta be patient.
Every second farm has one of these things rusting away! I order heaps of parts from America, i cant imagine it being that hard the other way.

Good luck mate, its brutal looking at those photos but if your committed you will get there in the end. One step at a time.

So, got it home tonight. 8 hour down, 10 hours back. And I had a thought. Climbed in, jiggled what's left of the column shift into neutral and it more or less rolled off the trailer. So the drums were not glued to the brake pads. I'm going to put the spare (still there) on the passenger front and I'll have a roller - which will be great.

The top as a dent downward that I think I can pop out. No idea if it was there before, but it's totally salvageable.

Yes, this is getting a new drive train, not a full resto, I'll start a new thread. But, the engine, trans, xfer case, axles, the whole shebang is available to a good home.
Glad to see you made it home. It was Great talking to you on the phone yesterday. Wish I could have been more help. When you get settled in and start up on the build post up a parts list. @whitey45 I agree helping out with a few donated parts to see another 45 back on the road and help a Brother out is a Great idea.

Find me some 63 thru 67 styleside 45 pickups on gumtree? Bet you can’t, yes you guys do have a lot of 45’s but the majority are late model 75 and up. It is very hard to replace all the dash knobs on the easily ribbed dash.

So, the finally called today - a month later. And offered me $11,856.
They are valuing it at 'invoice' of $15,000 as that was what I paid for it.
But, they are taking $3,144 off of that. I could not get her to say what that money was for. Clearly, it was for the frame, but she kept saying the frame was only worth $144.
So, I've got another call into the supervisor.
But, I'm not willing to pay $3,144 to keep Dumpie
So, right now, I'm going to let them have her.

If anyone out there is willing to pay $3,200 for Dumpie, I'll do the deal and they can have her.

They are valuing it off of it's normal book value or wholesale. Fight them. No way it's worth $3k as it. Tell them to show you a comparable FJ45 for $3k or what auto salvage place is going to buy it for parts for $3k. Who is your/their insurance?

I agree with what someone else said, they owe you shipping as well.

I've had 3 total vehicle claims, 1 I had to fight on like crazy decked out 76 FJ55, and provide every receipt, the others they were more than fair.

Yes, @Lil'John is right - sorry if I misspoke.

I think the $3200 is the 'buy back' value of the FJ45.

I think he is getting $15,000 but if he wants the rig, they will knock down $3200.

I'd be curious where they are pulling that number from. My off cuff says they are asking way too much for something that may not sell at an ins auction especially since it would get a salvage title.

Oh no, I understand you completely no misspeak. What I'm saying is that their buyback value is totally wack. You CAN and SHOULD fight that. It's USUALLY based on what some scrap/junkyard bids on it or some dumb formula that makes no sense.

There is NO WAY a fire totaled vehicle, especially an FJ45 is worth $3,200 buyback. No junkyard would pay $3,200 for that. I would ask them to explain how all those parts are worth that. Definitely fight that.

So, the woman I'm talking to is incapable of explaining how they came up with $3,144 and every time I leave a message for her supervisor, the idiot woman calls me back. So I can't find out exactly how they came up with $3,144. And their assertion that it was worth $12,500 before it was burned up is total bull****. I called a couple of lawyers in town the last few days to try to get some help and none will call me back, not enough money in it.

Maybe give the Government a call...

Let the idiot lady know you're filing a complaint if you don't get transparency in the accounting.

Thats a bummer. Who is the insurance company? A lot of them like to play games so you have to fight or keep asking for someone else. $3,200 is so random. Especially when she says the frame is $140. :cautious:

I know I will probably get flamed for defending an insurance company, but that doesn’t sound that unreasonable to me. I’d pay $3200 for it as it sits in a heartbeat.

most likely the rig would end up at a copart type place.
I could see it going for that amount at auction.
here in my state, that would not get a salvage title as it is too old, it would just be a clear title.
is this currently at your place? the insurance company has no rush then as they are not paying storage anymore. they would act quicker to settle this if the longer it takes, the more it costs them.

I would get an appraisal of the vehicle by a professional near you. Like a hot rod shop or something and show them all your pics of the vehicle before the fire. See if the insurance will reason with you based on that. You can also go on the insurance companies Facebook page and publicly explain their lowball offer for the world to see. That should get a response.
