:meh: It's OK. Ali, the tool for the 80's is different than the rest of us. You boys have bigger shafts. :p

If you wouldn't mind letting those go that would be great, thanks! The 76 seals should fit in a 77. Can anyone confirm this though?

Not at all. I found the OEM seals. I need to look through the other boxes for the Marlin (will look tonight). Let me know if you want me to drop them off. I don't live to far from there and I drive through there for work during the week.

I will be home most of this week you can either drop them off on your way to work or on your way back home if that works for you, or whenever you want. Drop me a PM and we can set up a time and date. Thanks

Old Man Emu just arrived!!!:)

Hey Paul, I just found out that I know your dad. I teach for him at CNM, I talked to him today and he mentioned your project. Sounds like it is coming along great. I am going to have to make a trip to the casa and check it out. When you get done, you can help with my project!

You will have to stop by for sure. I have heard about your 40s are going to need some help to get them back together.

I know I'm busy working that weekend, but how's progress coming on being ready?

Did you come up with a solution for the tie/relay rods and such? If so: which did you choose.

Dan

No worries about not being able to make it. Everything is coming together well, but a little slower than I would like. We have not settled on anything yet. I need to do more research and figure out the best step up for me. If anyone has any suggestions on steering post up. Just a little background information on my steering set up. I will be running 33"x9.5" with a FJ60 steering unit with a Saginaw Power Steering pump.

Matt Miller just completed installation of power steering in his FJ40. Here is a link to his write up on our club website. It might help you with your research. Matt is a great guy and if you have any questions just PM him, his handle is Subzali on the Rising Sun Club site and MUD.

Thanks I will take a look at that for sure. Every bit of knowledge helps.

Reminder

Just sending out a reminder for this weekend. The build day is on for sure. The goals I want to accomplish on Saturday are getting OME on, rebuild knuckles, chase down some wire gremlins, starting planning out my FJ60 PS swap, and maybe swap out some brake lines.

I do not have any of the knuckle tools, so if someone can bring a set of tools that would be great.

Post up any parts I need to make sure to have on hand. I want to have this day go as smooth as possible.

Food and drinks will be taken care of, and I am hoping to start around nine. Anyone is more than welcome to come over and just watch or get your hands dirty.

Thanks,

I've got knuckle tools (Spindle Nut Wrench, C-clip pliers, Marlin axle seal installation tool, fish scale), but of course they are locked in our shop at the moment. If nobody else has them that's coming, give me a call Friday morning or something and I'll see if I can't get Dad to get them out of the shop.

You can make it all work without any of them, but they make it much easier.

Have fun! Should be a fun party, I wish I could be there.

Thanks Dan I will keep that in mind.

You shouldn't have any trouble with the knuckle tools.

I'm helping someone move into an apt on Saturday and if it doesn't take all day, will swing by your place.

That would be great.

Does anyone have the shims that work with the knuckles? Cdan only had the shims for a 79 or newer axle. (They come in a kit, all the other parts in the kit are the same except for those shims because the newer models have 12mm knuckle studs instead of the 11mm. I would be more than happy to pay for them. And I missed the time they can order in shims for me by a couple hours. :bang: If no one has them I just have to push back rebuilding my axles which is no big deal.

I decided to look at craigslist and I found this one. I doubt they will work though, but take a look.

 That's the problem with the youth these days. They procrastinate, then always forget something at the last minute. But you are in luck, I didn't use the ones that came with my kit. If you would have mentioned this earlier, I could have dropped them off with the seals. I can leave the here tommorow and you can pick them up when you want. Fix that thing and :steer: !
