Does anyone have photos of their rear bench seat with child seats mounted? What did you do for the child seat mounts? I'm looking at the same set up for my 2 and 4 year olds.
There are shots with my kids in child seats. I just used the original lap belt to secure the bottom and a bolt/eye ring to attach the back retainer strap to the track behind the seat.

These are Mastercraft Baja RS seats. Front two are custom covers with heater and lumbar as well as back pouch option. Rear one is straight RS without options. Huge difference in what I can keep in truck with 3 seats vs.4. Ground tent and gas shock in stock hatch tubes + tarp made for a good setup in Ocala National Forest in Dec...

Mine? A member here just identified it as "Besttop rear seat ", in a thread of mine.
I recently installed the Bestop bench in my resto/mod project and I love it. Super easy install, folds away nicely when not in use, and definitely safer for the kids versus siting side-saddle. In reality it would fit a couple smaller sized adults fine as it has about as much room as an airline seat.

To stay on topic; yes, with some 3in risers, the Bestop bench is comfortable enough for trips. My kids, oldest one 6’1” , liked them fine and even better for smaller kids. Plenty of access below for anchors as long as you don’t have a long-range fuel tank underneath. I used the provided seatbelt anchor for middle and roll bar bolts for outer part of seatbelts. Was able to use original lap belts until boys got bigger. Then used belt extensions from O’ Riley’s for the outboard part later. If you can afford it, this is a better option than minivan seats as it folds an tumbles and is low profile maintaining some cargo utility.

Yah i really want to have 3 points in the rear as my almost 5 year old will be going to booster seat in the next year. Any body bolt some type of shoulder mount to the roll bar in the rear?

Can you show
Hey all, I just recently purchased an FJ40, and although I don't know the details (purchased from a dealer) - I thought I'd share the bench setup it came with for inspirational purposes. It's pretty nice, even though I think I'd rather it came with jump seats. I can't imagine anyone other than kids fitting on these, and I don't have or want kids! At least it folds up for cargo/storage. Anyhoo, here's the pics:

Can you show a photo of the anchor points in the floor a bit better? Thats a great set up.

Yes everybody is familar with the bestop fold and tumble im just looking for ideas on seats with 3 point belts or easiest way t oattach to the stock rollbar setup if thats an option.

These seats are out of a 2019ish Ford Transit. Three point harness is integrated. Bought two bolts from Ace Hardware and attached the loose end of the seat belt into the existing hole in the seat frame. It was originally attached somewhere else in the van. One seat has the rings to hook a car seat up. Seats also have pockets in the backs. 2”x3/16” flat bar used to mount seats. There are numerous pre drilled holes on the bottom of the seat frame.

2003 TJ seat. Bench seat, fold and tumble, quick release lever to remove, anchor points for two car seats, full width between rear wheel wells, and probably enough width to fit three across (at least in a pinch).

I don’t have this OEM mounting hardware so I’ll either need to fabricate it or track a set down. I may make the mounts taller since the floor doesn’t drop as much as a TJ floor.

This might be even better: FJ40 Rear Bench Tumble Seat - Folds Forward to open Cargo Area
For Bench Seat Installation: Bench Seat installation '65 to '78 FJ40 and BJ40 or Bench Seat Installation '79 - '84 FJ40 & BJ40

I believe that's the exact setup that the PO must have sourced, from coolcruisers.com

Anyone that stumbles on to this - I removed the Bench seat (from my previous pics and links to product page) in favor of Jump Seats.
I'll likely be selling the bench seat complete with hardware and seat belts, if anyone is near NJ and interested - shoot me a DM.

I had the same issue with my 1974 FJ40 when my son was born. I used the front passenger seat of a 1971 FJ40, and bolted it in. I attached seat belts to its frame to secure his car seat. I still have it, out in the barn, and he’s 31 now. I’ll put it in the truck and shoot a couple pictures of it for you tomorrow.
Did you ever manage to get these photos? I've been searching high and low for someone using an OEM split front bench in the rear.

Since all the upholstery zipped off I painted the bare steel to minimize future rust. The custom brackets tilt the seat back a couple degrees and the seat locks in very solid.

Would search the section for pictures of a 60 of the 40/60 used facing forward in the back. That was a seating option in the FJ25. Believe Toyota's museum in California and the Miller museum in Utah but have an FJ25 with that style. Thirty years ago I bought a 71 FJ40 that had the 60% seat from an FJ25 in the back. I know it was from the front of a FJ25 because the front legs were even.

Over forty years ago I had an early Bronco seat bolted in the back of my of my 68. I used a piece of angle iron bolted to side frame rail to anchor seat belts for the kids car seats.

Believe 2003 three was the first year the anchor for the Latch system for car seats was required. I had small grandkids at time. Our 04 4Runner had the anchor point but our 2000 100 series didn't. In the mid 1990s bought the front seats out of a 1988 Mitsubishi Montero. Driver's is a suspension seat. I went back and picked up the fold and tumble rear seat. Back seat fit between the wheel wells like a glove.

Project never go around to. If I do get around to it I would do some checking as far as raising the seat for more drop but the legs and still maintaining headroom. What I didn't like about the Bronco seat which is the same as the Toyota front seat would have is it fixed and doesn't allow room for storage in the back. Few years after putting the Bronco seat in I removed it. Used the 40 for hunting and needed space for camping gear. In the summer time we had a Ford club wagon van with a 460.V8 and just towed the 40 or a smaller trailer when taking the kids camping.
