Of course it refers to the US border!
I should never assume, but I did, that your work wasn’t being done in the states? So wherever you are it looks to be a really cool project and I’m looking forward to finding out how it turns out and how it holds up.

Looks great. Would love to see some inside pictures when it's all done.
Also, as with anything.. "the devil is in the detail"... some close up pics of how you got that seal around the roof to work would be great.

It is a pretty cool idea, and the truck looks great. Is the end game to have some type of sleeping platform up at roof level? I went out and measured my roof and it looks like about 6’ of available space. I’m not a big fan of RTT’s because at 64 you tend to get up once or twice a night to pee. Can I say that? 😂. Your idea would be easier to navigate. Hope we hear more about your work. Nice job.

I was messing with you, I knew what you meant. I am in San Diego but my car is in Colombia. Only there you can find true artisans willing to take on a project like this. I asked here in the states and many places wit some experience building campers told me it was impossible.

Stock looking with a RTT , i like this, i think it is a popular mod in germany on troopy .

Must be heavy to open with the top rack, are you using a cable crank or something to help ?
it was part of my goals to maintain the original look when closed. I did no drill a single additional hole in the car. In fact, it uses the same roof weatherstrip of the original roof.

I only bought a second roof to make the modifications and kept the original one in my garage. I can go back to original look just by removing the 24 bolts in the roof and replacing the original fiber glass roof.

Opening it is not a problem. It has two 150 lb gas struts and it is not heavy at all once the struts engage.

You are correct, the available sleeping space id 6ft long. I'll upload some pictures of the sleeping platform once finalized

This is very nice. I do not have s a hard top but this could be done with a platform secured to cage. I like it because it provides just a bit more space than a RTT would unless you got one larger than the 40 top.
