Posted this on a thread in the 60 series tech forum as well and won't post anywhere else, but wanted to share my experience with California Car Cover... For the price you pay, I'd steer clear.

I purchased the Noah cover from California Car Cover for my 40 series last January. $350, but was happy to have something that seemed liked decent quality that actually fit the truck.

Come October we had some significant wind and the cover caught on one of the many metal pieces on the 40 and tore a large gash into the cover. I contacted CCC and they issued me a warranty number and return label. I made it clear that once they were able to inspect the item, I wanted to discuss my options in the hope of being able to swap it out for a different material that would fair better with high winds (even if it meant me paying a bit more).

Fast forward a month or so and I had moved from California to Texas. In hindsight I should have reached out to them, but didn't think about it since I was expecting some sort of communication back from them before anything happened. Instead they apparently repaired the cover and sent it back to the address from which it came - my California address (an apartment building at the time). I still received no email or call from CCC, but I received an email from my UPS account saying that a package was delivered from CCC to that address. I contacted the apartment building and they couldn't find it (actually reached out to the apartment building a couple of times and to this day they can't find the package, either in the Amazon lockers on site or in the front office where some packages are delivered).

The response from CCC (which by the way usually takes weeks since the customer service rep is "pretty busy being that I am the only one in customer service"), is now:

You were contacted via email about your package shipping, that’s when you noticed it was going to the ‘old’ address and got a hold of us when you realized. I looked into the order and from the date of the RA# being issued (Oct 2nd, 2021) up to (Dec. 10th, 2021) when I got your email, there was zero mention of you moving to a new address. The cover had already been sent out to the ‘correct’ address on Nov. 2nd, 2021 and delivered on Nov. 19th.

Again, I received no email, so I only assume he's referring to the email that I got from my own UPS account. They have offered a discount on a future purchase as the only recourse. I suppose they are within their right since there was a tracking number that shows it delivered, even if no one at the building has ever been able to find it.

In short, my experience:
  • Seems like a good product, even if the material didn't hold up (I'm sure other materials may work better in windy environments)
  • Customer service for warranty service is crap, if you can get ahold of anyone
  • For what you pay for the cover, I'd expect a hell of a lot better service when their product does fail

Forgive me, I'm a little confused. Your cover was torn because it wasn't secured properly and one of your additions torn it. California Car Cover repaired it and shipped it back to you but you had failed to notify them you were moving. Someone at you old address or a porch pirate made off with it and yet they still offered to sell you a replacement at a discounted price.

I understand you being upset because you are out a cover but why do you feel it is California Car Covers fault?
