Howdy all,
seeing how this forum is a gold mine of info, I have an inquiry about the carburator cooling fan on my 1977 FJ40 Ca.
Specifically, where is the thermosensor on this model? I recently replaced the intake/exhaust manifold system and never located a manifold sensor. is this by any change the sensor that wraps around the upper part of the carburator?
Located underneath the intake near the exhaust manifold. Closer to the firewall. The sensor you are referring to is probably the fuel cutoff solenoid. That is to help your truck idle.
I ask because the fan was working before my manifold rebuild but it has not come on since. the machine was idel for about 2 months. I was wondering if i missed something. I tested the fan with 12V DC and it spun happily.
You are probably just missing the sensor, have you checked the plug?
Also, I know the fan is supposed to engage when the engine compartment reaches 175 and the area i am in is usually in the low to mid 70s.
This is engine temp, I've had it cut on in the winter after driving for long periods of time, it came on today when I drove to work and it was 50 out.
thanks for the help
