Early model Fj40 will not have the carb cooling fan, If I remember correctly
my 76 fj40 that I have back in the 8O does not have carb fan either.

A '76 has a different style, in the front driver's corner by the radiator. I've got a fan there, but it doesn't yet work. This is an fj55 fan, which mounts from the radiator support, but the fj40 fan is about the same. My mount is a quick hack, but it works..

My '76 Federal truck does not have a fan. My '76 California truck does/did have the fan in the front DS corner.

Just wonder how long your carb fan stay on after engine has turn off?
My carb fan stay on for about 20 min. Is this fan control by relay timer or by the manifold heat sensor?

I pretty sure there is a sticker that is suppose to say that the fan could run as long as 20 minutes. Mine has the sticker but it is faded and unreadable.

15-20 minutes. People frequently tell me that my truck is still running.

Both, as far as I can tell. The manifold heat sensor tells it to run in the first place, and once it is on the timer takes over.

But if it's not that hot it will turn off early, so the sensor input is still relevant once it is running.

OK, I don't doubt it - just that mine never does that I've noticed, even in "winter". Texas heat I guess.

Thanks Folks for all the info.
Where that yellow notice sticker goes on?
Would like to get one.
Thanks,

In all fairness our signatures don't show on most mobile devices so fair question. My is a 1978 but that is a reproduction sticker so may not be true to year.

I went through the entire process from locating a fan to getting a new control box and thermal relay. Works perfectly now and is controlled by temp not to exceed 30 min.
