Tell me about it...twice around for me...I think you gave that crud to me...but heh...you warned me!

Uh...Sorry bout that Dan!:o

Your welder is BITCHIN though!!!:D

As mentioned, I pulled the rear end, started cleaning it, and also split the packs to clean and paint them.
It seems to take forever, but worth it IMOP!
The biggest pain in this is actually OPENING the clamps! Im gonna leave em open, so I have to basically pound the clamps flat with a BFH on the "anvil" portion of my vice. Then, I take and drill a hole on each side of the clamp to run a 1/4 in, grade 8 bolt through just to keep things nice and tidy.
Youll see in the pics below, a good cleaning was in order.
Also, I called Kurt at Cruiseroutfitters Tuesday and left a message to order a Lockright...He called me back Wednesday to confirm and TODAY I got my LOCKER!!!!:bounce: :bounce2:
I donno how the hell he got that turn around so fast, but...Thanks Kurt!!! You da man!

Pretty boring stuff, but here are some pics anyway!
My partially cleaned rear housing, and my locker!

Then, the cleaned leaf (well, as clean as I want it to be) and a shot of the finished re-assembled pack!

Dude you really need to get you rig back on the road. June 9 is going to get here real soon. :grinpimp:

Its GOTTA be done by the end of April for the BLOTCH trip...
That is all there is to it!:D

Chicago

I didn't bother with the through bolt on the spring clamps, just straightened them out. As I understand it this allows more flex in the spring.
Half of mine were broken off already so I fugured what the hey!.:grinpimp:

You fawkers gonna be on the rubithon???

I am going to be on the thurs morning breakfast run and also leading the waggy mild run down Cadillac on fri.

Anyone want to help on the fri run??
Hint hint..

I'm sure you will be ready, you are flying through this.

Let me know when you are ready for a maiden voyage and we can go for a ride behind the High School.

:princess: can get some action shots of your new rig.

Yeah, I thought about that too, and Mace brought that up too stating that it wasnt necessary, but it just gives me warm fuzzies for the time being in the belief that the leaves will stay in the pack! If I feel that the flex is limiting, I can always take em off:cool:
The red lock tight on em may have a different plan though!

Sometimes, doing things for warm fuzzies is an excellent idea ;)

Nice Keith!

rear locker only or front an rear?

Dylan

Rear only for the time being!
Keeping with the stock axels in the front swayed me to play it safe!
Financially, I couldnt do the longs, so when I do those, the fronts getting locked!

We should be scheduling club runs for the summer in the next couple of meetings. If there isn't a conflict I may try to make Rubithon. Not that I could help, I've never driven The Rubicon, just been a passenger a few times.

BTW, I think Bobby is still treating birfs if you ask nicely..

A propane torch loosens red locktite up pretty fast.

Yep.. Bob will show his face..

And honestly, I think you guys will be fine.

Come on down for the Fri morning soccer mom run if ya want. It is a quick (probably 4 hrs) trip to the springs. And you can get a feel for what is available in your backyard...

It is funny, when I lived in Reno I never hit the con. Had to move 9 hrs away before I drove it ;)

The first time I ran the con it was in my 40, locked front and rear with a SM420 and xtreme 32" BFG at's.. I walked the trail.. it is only as hard as you make it...
