Your project is a labor of love and I have enjoyed reading your travels and journey to this point. You have inspired me to do the same and I have appreciated the clear explanation of your build. I hope our trails cross someday so I can see the true in person hands on seeing of this work of beauty. If you wouldn't mind giving me two measurements, one back of cab to middle rear axle, and two from the front edge of the B (door) pillar to the back edge of the cab. Additionally mind sharing the name of the person that did the top fiberglass work in advance

The center of the front axle to the outer lip on the "A" pillar is 33"

The back of the cab to the front of the "B" Pillar is 24".

The back of the cab to the center of the rear axle is 33"

The fiberglass was done by Dave's Fiberglass in Visalia, Ca. He builds hi performance flat bottom race boats as well as bodies for funny cars/dragsters.

'D' TNX for the time to take and get the numbers for me as I am starting on the frame this week and the journey towards a 45, using a 55 frame to start. Going to get that out of the way then go on the body which I am looking for TNX Again Skip :D

Pretty sweet truck!

I have got the same kind of plan with a build, on a 1977 Nissan Patrol Ute though. Going to cut and lengthen the cab though instead of shortening a SWB truck into an extra cab. Turbo diesel engine, 5spd, built and locked axles, coilovers, 35's. So not as burly as your truck but sill capable! ;)

Please start a build thread on it.

Sounds like a pretty awesome build.

'D' Had a question on the roof, did you modify yours or did Dave's fiberglass splash an all new one either way I have tried to find his phone number would appreciate your assistance to get it. Started the tear down on my 1970 tub this week have the back off and unfortunately I have to replace the floors and rockers, just time. TNX Skip

Starting the tear down on the tub, parts are ordered and have a roof and sides, collecting parts as D did in the beginning, hope to start a thread when I get something to look at, anyone out there have patterns for the drip rails especially the corners mine are gone. Buying these are prohibitive, your help would be greatly appreciated...

Fast Eddie
I do have a top that the sides and fiberglass are good, however the drip rails were not included with these parts. I will be making the sides shorter as well as the fiberglass top to make it fit my 45 tub, still hopeful that I will be able to round up some drip rails to modify my application.

There are some opinionated individuals on the blog that have accused you of being dishonest. I don't see anywhere you have tried to give the impression that you have a 45 from your build. In our hobby it is nice to be able to individualize our rigs to the liking of the individual, personalities of ourselves and come up with something special that is ours. I have no problem if you want to be a purest and go in that direction that is what our sport is all about. However it would be nice to have others to enjoy the hard work and craftsmanship just as we do with theirs. I hope this topic doesn't turn into a pissing match between and divide our MUD members between this topic. My thought is you don't have to like it but it would be nice if you could say I understand what they are doing. I have for one enjoyed your journey along with some others builds in there quest to individualism of there project. I will be moving forward with my 40 to completion of a extended cab pickup, not sure what I will call it yet and have appreciated you and others for sharing you journeys with us so we may have a individualized rig of our own and not have to create a new mouse trap. Well put Skip.
I also really like all original Cruisers, no matter the model. I chose to cut up my 40 to make an fj45.5, or whatever it is, because I did not want to cut up an original fj45. Some of the people you speak of have highly modified 45's, albeit still a "45". I will call mine whatever I chose, and could care less about what some so called purist's think or say.
