Looks good. Is this eliminating the charcoal canister under the hood?
What are you using to grind with?
I use these A LOT. They are the best thing since sliced bread (along with 1mm zip cut discs)

Flap discs.
Great for removing scale, smoothing off welds. Dressing/rounding off edges and corners without leaving visible grinding marks.
I use mostly 80 grit, and 120 grit if I want something to have a good finish. (I also have 40 fruit, but rarely use them. Too coarse)
They are easy to swap out to change between grades. Just lock the spindle lock button on grinder, and rotate the disc with your hand to undo the blade lock nut. Retighten the same way. Takes a few seconds to swap.
I haven't used a hard grinding disc in years.
Ps. Not trying to be critical, you commented you hadn't worked with metal. Looks like you've taken to it well.
