Only one person holds a CSC number. Nothing has changed, this is the way it has been since day one. I know this first hand because I was there.Some family members have opted to have there own personal CSC number. Pattersons, Pitts, and the Keefes come to mind. With that said as always from day one everyone and anyone is welcome to attend, participate, and enjoy any CSC event even your family.

Maybe I'm just old, failing memory, but don't remember ever discussing, anything but family friendly membership, in line with the other TLC organizations? Please link to the individual membership rule. Yes, you were there, provided some humorous interjection related to if cohabitation qualified, was proof of copulation was required, etc.

I don't have a problem with changing it, or claiming it was otherwise, doesn't effect me. Lots of confusion lately, time for a good set of bylaws.

the truck ran excellent on the test drive - dying on the way to the bank 30 minutes later was just such a freak occurrence, it had to be something simple

temporarily, the aftermarket dizzy cap and rotor were pilfered from Rosie the parts truck - but since then, new OEM dizzy cap and rotor have been installed - black fan clutch and 3FE fan are still in a box

Doesn't matter to me, my wife likely doesn't care if she can wear her CSC shirt anymore. It was heavily discussed back in the beginning and IIRC this is the adopted policy. It's the same as/mirrors most other clubs (like AzLCA, TLCA, etc). If the policy has changed, those with families may want to explore other options that are more family friendly/accommodating? ?

His choice, but doesn't change anything, at least under the old policy, he was still a member. Likely a good time to write down a set of rules, so members know what to expect, what the policies are?

People are quick to turn any new discussion topic into rules and bylaws discussion. People who keep talking about rules and bylaws are people who oppose them. None of those threads ended well.

The note that "it wasn't running" is sort of an insider joke, based on two happenstances in the past:

1. The '40 wanted to die halfway thru the test drive as well back then ; electrical issue, suddenly (right in the middle of a big intersection...) not enough juice to the coil/bad ground; enough to support idle, but no more...

2. I can't count the times I thought I had found the perfect parts donor truck for the Blazer, mostly axles and/or transfer case, only to have my lovely wife make the points that a) I really didn't need it, and b) there's no sense in buying a vehicle that's not running...
It was a sensible point, given that I neither had the infrastructure to transport, nor the space to store such a precious part donor...

Fast forward to the here and now... she finds a vehicle we don't "need", and to top it off, it's not running, and guess what happens...

It was discussed, some on the forum, some in person, sorry that it wasn't to your satisfaction. That is the way the club worked and worked well when it was a smaller/tighter group. Things were discussed, if there was no significant opposition, were adopted. To my knowledge, there has never been an official vote/adoption procedure implemented/used for any of the issues, maybe it's time?

It has nothing to do with the "shop". The first time I heard it was IIRC at a meet, from Phil, a very longtime ago. I wouldn't classify it as a joke, more of a complement of your net skills. If the complement offends you, say the word and I will never mention it again.

I'm all about simple and that can work well, as long as the group is relatively small. As the group grows, it's normal for "clicks"/smaller groups to form, among those who have the same sub interests within the main interest of the group. At any one meet, it's no longer possible for an individual to have meaningful conversation with everyone, so the small group/family type atmosphere is lost. Communication breaks down, misunderstandings increase, etc.

Sound familiar? I'm not your "fix it man", happy to be out of it. But, would think that a good set of policies/rules, so everyone knows what is expected, would be a good start? Would be a start at reducing the misunderstandings (like this one) that have been cropping up more and more often lately.

I do know that picking on, slandering, etc, those who we don't like, would prefer would go away, doesn't work. Especially if they have been around for a while, tend to dig in and give it a , while by the same action, we alienate other potentially valuable people.

Too bad your done with this thread, because you have it totally backwards. I think this club had some to a point where it does need some rules/bylaws.. CSC has arrived, even passed, at that point where it is large enough and diverse enough that verbal management and control are loosing effectiveness. This is a very common occurrence in many clubs/organizations. The vast majority of the current membership has no idea of who the original founding members are, who is on the BOD ( not always the some people ), Who the officers are, or if we have a "missions Statement". Several members have assumed that I was an officer, probably because I am here a lot, I talk a lot, I wheel a lot, I'm an old fart, whatever. I have been a member/officers in a multitude of clubs/organizations from PTAs, to investment clubs, to Unions. I have been involved in writing and amending rules, guidelines, bylaws, standards, whatever, for a long time. I think CSC is way overdue. It would be a natural extension of the new, more formal, monthly club meetings.
