Surprised to see a 250 on the line so soon. Great video.

So was I.

I suspect they are setting up the line to accept them when fully finalized. I don't believe all the "i"s and "t"s have been taken care of.

Interesting to see different vehicles being assembled on the same line at the same time.

Land Cruiser assembly has been like that all along. I saw 76s 79s and 200s all mixed in together back in 2010.

Tahara builds both BOF trucks (GX/4Runner and now 250/550) and Lexus and Toyota cars.

It‘s a very integrated, mixed production facility. Almost fully roboticized and automated.

I know they do but it was the doing a GX and 4R on the same line right after each other that I didn't know was a thing. And I've actually been in more than one car plant - just never see that before. Different trim levels, colors, etc.? sure but never two completely different vehicles with different drivetrains.

All Toyota plants are 100% mixed production on the same line. In less than 1 hour, they can rejig/change-over an entire line to manufacture a completely different vehicle if needed for capacity.

Most stamping/pressing and welding stations are less than 90 seconds, fully automated, die changeover.

Tahara is one of Toyota‘s most advanced mass production facilities.

And 71s, and LXs, one after another, one coming off the line every 120 seconds, 2 shifts a day, 5 days a week.

79 production has since been transferred to the TAB Fujimatsu plant.

Yoshiwara is now 300/600/71/76/78production.

I’m still wondering which 250s will be made at Hino vs Tahara. The 250 in the video appears to be RHD with some interesting bits, like tan dash and chrome trim on the hood.

Wow! Super cool! New car smell x 1,000,000 factorial.

They are probably stoked their job gets easier….most Takumi are late professionals (in most instances)…. They are looking at heading departments on the Toyota food chain.

This is definitely Tahara. Toyota themselves very rarely film at subsidiary plants.

They leave that up to each individual subsidiary.

I bet it makes the Takumi specialists at Tahara sick to have to put hands on this newfangled unproven low displacement turbocharged stuff.

If Toyota wasn't supremely confident about the durability of that power train, they would NOT put a Land Cruiser nameplate on the vehicle.

Thanks for posting that Dan. Very exciting to see them come alive!
