For some reason I thought it was on a Sunday but it looks like it's on a Saturday. I'm bummed because I probably can't make it.

That's too bad... I'm actually planning on driving my 80 there and not trailering it. I want to see if replacing that bent control arm actually fixed my issues.

I think your 80 is gonna need more than that......

Clint, are you going to be showing up on some 37s?

I just finished reading this entire thread.
Only took me a week!
I have to say you have to be the most anal person I've ever read about. Talk about dogged determinitation.
Not sure I would have stayed with it this long. But I'd like to think I would.
Very nice build and I am impressed on how you don't let anything stop you. Props to your wife. She's a keeper!

Now, I am reading where you have been thinking of a solution for you tranny shifter. I have a suggestion for the shifter problem.

Have you considered getting an Industrial Joystick Control for a shifter handle?
Look at the FG6.

Something with enough switches for your torque converter and up and down manual shifting all gaurded with a master arming switch. This way you can have an all automatic mode for the wife and a manual select shift for the trails. Perhaps even an electric locker contol on there too!

These can be had with as many buttons as you think you need and will mount on your transmission shifter shaft with just a little effort. The equipment control handles are robust enough for heavy handed crane operators and such so they should work well in your application.

Just a suggestion.

Anyway, I am a big diesel conversion fan with several under my belt, and have enjoyed every minute of my time reading this.
 I've eaten several bags of Popcorn reading this!

Oh dear Lord... no you didnt. Great idea but knowing Mike he would adopt the idea and make something similar using an old atari controller or something.

I've been perusing the Web Site Link I posted and they have all kinds of neat handles that would work well for him.
But, and old Atari Handle could be made to work too.
Heck I think I may have one up in the attic somewhere.

Given that I've read all of his build I have no doubt he could make one work for him.
I have become a big fan of this guys abilities. Makes me embarrassed to go into my shop with all my tools and lifts and I don't have half his energy.

I loved the wheeling videos, BTY! I have forwwarded them to several of my friends around the World. Makes me want to go out and fix my busted front Toy Diff on my Rodeo.

So sad I live so far away. I've been to many of the same trails in California and Utah.

You guys Rock!

:hhmm: I like it. I'll have to have a look at the link.

I hope to have an update to my tranny controls by next week. Things have drastically changed. Thanks for the read.

atari? No way too common and "retro" is in. He would do it with an old Colecovision controller.....

Perfect, I could just un-plug it when it's parked and use that as a security device. No joystick, no go. My kids would probably end up with a skewed idea of what it's like to drive a car.

Freaking awesome!

Tho I am a little young for that system but I am fully versed on atari and nintendo:grinpimp:

The third one is to engage my nightrider turbo boost mod...

Seriously, I have one for H/L on the doubler, one for H/L on the tcase, and one for 2wd/4wd on the tcase. Thanks for looking.
Eey, Man....absolutely kick-A :o) Gotta read your whole buildup through and through..... hope you don't mind I stand on your shoulders... you've made some great discoveries here I'm working through on my rig. From the different sub-projects you've gone through on this thing I must say you are one skilled metal man! And alot of imagination going into all of this .... after driving it this long, have you come up with any must-have mod's you might do AFTER all of these great ones?

.... after driving it this long, have you come up with any must-have mod's you might do AFTER all of these great ones?

Thanks for following along. I guess I'll interpret that as what do I still want to do to the rig or what's my future projects. I think everyone has things they find important and that all depends on how you use your rig.

So the things I find important to me for future dreaming would be finishing my drawers, tailgate storage, and 1/4 panel storage.
I'd like to finish my front bumper but I just haven't been satisfied with the way the front fender protection has been turning out.

I think a winch is probably a must-have for the style of wheeling I like to do so that will be part of the finishing of the front bumper. I'm sucking it in tight so I'll be cutting up part of the grill by the looks of it.

Not a must-have in this region but I'd like to get my A/C working eventually.
Probably swap out the front seats.
Change out my turbo. This will add to the more fun factor.
Swap in the 14bolt.
Switch to selectable lockers. I love having lockers and with the amount of Hwy driving I do with this rig selectables will probably make it more comfortable.
HID headlights. I'd say this is a must-have (at least some kind of headlight improvement).
Internal cage. This should be a must-have.
Get back into 38s

I'm sure there is more stuff and with so many great ideas on this board the list will probably never be complete. It's a hobby so there's always got to be something to work on. :) Right now I'm working on some changes with my tranny and will share once I got it squared away.
