Grind holes to bare metal and weld them up. Did my flares holes a few months ago and the roof is next. You may be able to find a touch up color and get close but it won't be perfect as the sun has beat the orginal color up. Besides, its on the roof anyway, who's really gonna see it. My 2 cents.

Is it possible to swap a 95-97 headliner into a 93-94?

You would need the headliner, all the pillar garnishes, assist grips, seat belts and sunshade. You would need to modify or cut out the inner B pillars so that the later adjustable seat belt upper anchors have a place to go. You would also have to relocate at least one of the dome lights and possibly move one of the roof support crossmembers. A big job that I would not attempt unless I had a complete donor vehicle side-by-side so that I could go grab more stuff as I found out what else is different.

what to do

I was planning on letting an interior shop do the headliner...but it sounds like even for them it may be better to just leave it alone and make the repair from above the headliner as best as one can. Hate to hear that....but I also understand not getting too involved and turning little projects into large ones/headaches. Has anyone removed or paid to have removed and reinstalled the headliner with good success? I will ask the guy I know here who has been at it for 30 years and see what he thinks. I am sure the same (he usually tells me to leave it alone)

Can anyone think of a way to make sure the nutserts can be recovered once ground off from the top? I know there is little chance that they would ever cause any roblem, but the only luck I have is bad luck...those floating pieces will come back to haunt me some day...I know it.

Like Dan already said, they have been expanded on the bottom so the only way to get them out of that hole is to enlarge the hole. So if you are willing to overdrill the hole then I suppose you could use a magnet (assuming they aren't aluminum) to retrieve the bottom pieces after you grind off the top.

Depending on the color of your rig, go retro on the top and do white for a two-tone look! If you rig is white, no one will notice anyway. Couple the two tone with the hood louver mod posted last week and the stretched 40 wheels - could be on to something there...

never done this but why don't you leave a screw in to hold on to, cut around it and then weld some new metal in. don't know if this would work since i've never welded burn headliner?
