The last thing I need to add is a gas strut. I found exactly what I need, but the parts won't be in until next week. I have a couple trips planned for the next couple of weekends so I'm not sure when I will be able to install it.

Perfect fit for my bike rack. Nothing hits, and I didn't have to readjust my rack and lose clearance.

Just took some more photos outside. Sorry for the cruiser being as dirty as it is. I haven't had a chance to wash it in the past couple of days.

Just when I think this rig can't get any cooler...and more awesome-er! :). Great job.

SCJ - well done. Now that you've got this functional, please generate a sketchup/CAD/etc. file any of us could potentially use to get one built with local fabricators (detailed measurements, angles, bill of materials, etc). Possible to do?

No good deed goes unpunished, you've developed quite the following of anxious 80 owners.

What do you think the weight delta is? OEM drop hitch and tire carrier are gone now. Your swing out more or less than that?

Thx!

Thanks for the compliments fellas! After building this one, I don't think I could ever build another as perfectly as this one to sell.

This took us roughly 40 hours to build and well over $200 in parts alone. I have most of the basic measurements that I will reverse when I build the other side, but some of the angles were just line of site to what looked most visually appealing to me.

I have very little experience with solid works so I'm not sure I could make a file for one or at least at this point in time. I'm more of a napkin drawer.

I would say the change in weight is slightly heavier. There is a bit more metal in this than in the factory receiver and tire carrier. Not to mention my new tire/wheel combo is 30lbs heavier than the 33s and 15s.

Dirty?!?! Shame on you!!

Seriously, this is my favorite 80 (aside from mine, of course). Beautiful rig, functional, and a 3FE!

As for the passenger side carrier for your Yeti, I'd definitely be interested in purchasing plans or hand drawings to build one (to make as a spare tire carrier). I want my tire on the passenger side to offset the driver side weight. If you decide to do this, that would be awesome.

Holy chit!!!! That came out great! I am definitely going to attempt to replicate this at some point. Great job, it really looks awesome.

Freaking awesome! Nice work! And, it looks great!
Your vehicle has got to be the nicest looking cruiser I know of.
(Sorry @98 SNAKE EATER and @1shot1kill kill but your's are the next)

Thanks you guys!

If I don't do plans, I think I could do quite a few affordable DIY kits that include everything you need. All that would need to be done would be the welding. It would just be something I would do after I make the swing out for the Yeti.

Great looking swing out. You don't have the part number/make for those led tail lights do you? I need some for my 40 bumper being built.

Here you go!

I'd be interested in hearing more about a kit. I have a home made rear bumper on my truck and it just doesn't do it for me. I'd like to go back to stick with this idea.

Yes please! This would be perfect. My son (13 years old) and I are wanting to learn to weld.
