I was thinking of picking up some 17" rims and Rock Warriors are unobtainium within a reasonable drive, and becoming too pricy. I looked into Methods, but they're all 0 offset and that seems like it isn't ideal based on reading other threads on here (the price is nice though with the current sale). I found some perfect wheels: Evo Corse SuperDakar 17" +25ET, etc. I got a quote - pricy, but still cheaper than factory BBS rims, but the kicker is the lead time is in excess of 6 months. I've read about supply chain issues, but wow, that shocked me.

Are there any other strong, light, 17" rims from a well reputed manufacturer that work on our rigs?

Are the Icon Vector 5s not on your list for any reason? I don't have them, but they are the best looking to me of the +25mm crowd. They come in 3 colors.

PIcture stolen from MUD: LINK for more pictures

Nice thing about the Evo Corse is you can get them in some more ideal offsets than +25mm. But I don't know how I'd feel about 6mo wait time.

I know this sounds silly, but I don't love the asthetics of the Icon Vector or Rebound wheels.

I am generally not a fan of the bolts on the outside of the rim but not really beadlocks, either.

I like the subtle look of the Evo Corse rims. I'm not set on +25, that was just what their fitment calculator came up with for me.

I agree on the fake bolts, but that's why i like the vectors, since they don't have those. The Evo Corse are my favorite as well, but lead times and double the price, i would probably end up with either the Vector or one of the +35mm AlphaEqupt in either the Foxtrot or the Command (pictured above).

Here's a filtered search on TireRack. Not sure if it will work Tire Rack Alpha Equipt Models with +35mm Offset

Any discussion on wheels for our rigs should include details on load ratings. Not all wheels can survive on these trucks. @indycole can attest to that.

Rock warriors obviously meet the ratings, I believe Icon and Evo also are proven. This is the first I've heard of alpha equipt. And how much do they weigh? Dakars are about 30# IIRC

The rim is designed to withstand up to 2000 kg of load per wheel and is available in sizes 8.5×17 and 9×17 to allow the use of wide tires."

On the heavy side, over 30#.

The optimized anti-puncture profile and the possibility of reaching negative offsets, up to -15, make the DakarSuperZero the ideal rim for overland style off-road enthusiasts."

I believe even the standard dakarzero is rated for our trucks.. but yeah that would be taking it a step further. That is a whole lot of weight on one wheel..

Evo DakarZero

"DakarZero is the low offset version of the DakarCorse: a wheel dedicated to off-road, cross-country rally, and rally raid.

The spokes internal to the tire edge protect the mechanical parts from stone chippings and sand, while the wide hump profile allows the use of tires with a low inflation pressure that increases the car stability even in the most demanding conditions. Moreover, the powder coating in three layers provides wear resistance higher than the average and assures the good appearance of the alloy wheels, even after a probing race.
DakarZero is available in 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 inches and can be machined for any application."

  • Min ET 0, Max ET 45
  • Min PCD 98×4, Max PCD 165×6

Thanks, @bloc - they have some extra DakarZero (not the Dakar SuperZero) on a container coming in Dec or early in the year. I put an order in for a set of five 17x8 ET40 in Anthracite.

Don’t worry about the fake bolts on the Icons, they will eventually just rub off on the rocks…

Good to hear. One day I’ll sell my rock warriors and do the same.. which is shifting more in my favor because of the RWs going up in value.

This is one of my old wheels after one of my first trips. Another wheel had similar damage but didn't chunk the powder coat. The chip never got worse to my knowledge, which is a plus. All this to say, if you use your truck in the rocks, don't be shocked if yours end up looking the same. Or just place your wheels better than me. Wheels, and similarly tires, just get beat up with use; but when they cost a little more, it also hurts slightly more. At least to me.

Yeah, I expect them to get torn up. Part of the cost of doing business. My current tundra trd rims have gouges out of them. These are still cheaper than new bbs trd rims and I got 17" rims, so I can have more rubber.

Anyone consider Methods? The 703's come in 17" and are 35mm offset. Method's are doing their Black Friday once yearly sale at 15% off and I am seriously considering pulling the trigger. On the fence between the Methods and the Icon Vectors... Need to make a decision fast, would hate to miss the 15% sale. Anyone have a 200 with Methods? (Would love to see a black with bronze wheel picture)

Also the problem with KO2's is that I don't think you can get white letters in anything but an E load rating, kind of stinks.

I reached out to Method asking about non zero offset 17" wheels, and they told me: We carry the MR703 and 705 series wheel which comes with the +35mm offset.

Methods are definitely a more economical choice, even more so with the current sale.

I'm not into the white letter out look, so not really a concern for me.

Im a fan of the 314 but in the 17" +25mm offset it's only 7.5" wide. The wider wheel is a +/-0mm offset and the 18" is a +18mm which is what I am leaning towards. Is Main Line Overland still the only game in town to order Evo Corse Wheels through?
