I have them on my 1998 running 200-series wheels. Incredible quality! Both Slee and Spidertrax (the company that makes the spacers) are good Colorado companies. Really great part.Morning! Just stumbled across this post as I became curious myself about the very question you are asking. I have a 98 lx470 with 333k on it. The valve covers aren’t even leaky. No drips, no burning oil. Replaced coil packs a couple years ago when I felt a rough idle. Replaced throttle pedal positioning sensor prior to that on account of some highway-speed-cutting-out symptoms. I bought it for $8k with 284k on it. Since it was outfitted with ARB front bumper and slee rear swing out spare bumper and nice sliders, it felt like some cost could be recovered if it catastrophically failed in a year or two. Going on 5 years strong. I drive from central California over the various passes to Wellington Nevada several times a year. It’s my wife’s car, mostly. Sometimes I wonder if it’ll just die of old age in a mysterious way when we least expect it. I wouldn’t even be mad, I just hope it doesn’t happen on the freeway or in Stockton or something. No offense to the 209. One final note: the previous owner left me with about 150 pages of maintenance records and reciepts that I went through. 3 timing belts, OEM alternator and starter, fluids, bearings, suspension components, door gaskets, plugs, wires, filters, the bolts that hold the door hinge to the frame. This dude saved everything and followed the factory replacement recommendations to a T. I think he was the type of guy that replaced the starter at 100k because the FSM said so. I was impressed, and still am. Best of luck to you man.Looking for some advice here, I found a high-mileage 2001 LX470 with roughly 275k miles on it. It's been serviced at the local Lexus dealership over 240k of those miles as well, so that's a win. And it looks like the last 35k miles were at a local shop, the owner was very consistent and timely with his services.
So my question is: what's the Estimated Longevity for high mileage, but well-maintained 4.7?
I know this is a vague question, but it seems like many of the 80s series owners have had head gasket issues around 200k-300k miles, so I'm wondering what the deal is with these 4.7 engines?
I'm used to legit longevity with these machines with regular maintenance. We had a '89 FJ62 when I grew up, with regular maintenance she was just driving fine with 352k miles until my sister totaled it. While my dad was driving the FJ 62, my mom got a 2000 or 2001 LX470, that lasted until 315k when she traded it in, again regular maintenance. And my wife has a 2013 LX570 that's got 192k miles and is doing well. And, my first vehicle was a '99 4Runner that was running like a top until someone hit me and totaled it.
As for why I want this, I'd like for it to be my DD around town. I work from home, so I put like 5 miles on my current Tundra daily just putzing around to the store for errands, etc.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
