I'm considering an 05 LX with 260k and did a Facetime inspection with the current owner. Asked to see AHC work. Owner fully expected that it would, apparently it has functioned fine before although he says he leaves in N all the time. Anyway, at first it did not want to adjust- flashing lights on both H and L. After a couple tries it successfully went into H, vehicle was noticeably higher and H light locked on. But it would not go into L during our call. If what he says is true then it has not been cycled for some time, and the air temperature was very cold. Are either of these causes for AHC misbehavior? Other ideas about what might be wrong? I don't have the detailed records but it sounds like globes were replaced in 2022 so it had at least some kind of service a that time. I did not check fluid level but owner is pretty particular about his fluids, I'd be very surprised if it was low. Also the truck is not rusty.

What could be wrong and how concerned should I be?

Can he use Techstream and send some screenshots of the AHC screen? I would be curious about Neutral pressures, height sensor specs, as well as all the door switches.

Did he have his foot on the brake when changing height? Truck in P? N? D?

Could pressures be so low in N that the system wont drop to L? Kind of the inverse of pressures being too high to go into H.

Pretty sure he's not going to have access to Techstream. Truck was in park and no foot on brake as he was videoing from passenger side. You mention door switches....do you mean like passenger doors? Should they be closed?

Yes. All doors need to be closed.

All doors must be closed in order to change height. If a foot is on the brake for a while that will also keep it from changing height.

Either way, I wouldn't worry about it. In fact, it's a good reason to take $1k off the price.

Thank you gentlemen. Closing the doors did the trick; it now works fine.
