Hi, I have an 89 Land cruiser and just bought it six months ago. I do love the car, but I am learning about the engine. recently I noticed these two hoses (looks like vacuum) not connected to the top of this canister. Can anybody tell me what is this canister for, and the hoses not connected? By the way the car runs fine.
Also, any recommendations for LED headlights? I have seen positive posts on the TOR but would like to hear your comments. Thank you

My 86 has a vacuum diagram on the US passenger side inner fender. You could try consulting the diagram in this post.

Thank yo for the link. The two hoses go to the EGR valve. I am trying to figure ut why they were disconnected. The car runs fine while they are unplugged.

That clips to the underside of the air cleaner and vents the distributor. The inside of the dizzy can get corroded over time if not vented properly. I have never tested one of those original valves that still works this many years down the road, but there's a nearly identical replacement from Toyota that's still available - it's an 80 Series part.
