EASTERN vs. WALKER Catalytic Converter Y-Pipe (Done With Bosal)

Thanks for the feedback. Still debating options.

It's funny, I was looking at the y-pipe a few minutes before your message popped up. :hhmm:

The Walker y-pipe definitely rusts more than Toyota OEM. I've also sprung a leak at one of the flanges (not sure if that is my installation or the part).

Here are some images:

Not sure if anyone has looked at EMS Powered SS downpipe but it maybe a contender. More $$ than Walker but less $$ than OEM and seems to be made well from what I've been reading.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to note that I just went through this exact same experience. Went through 2 Bosal Y pipes, both were nowhere near fitting. I returned both to Rock Auto. Rock Auto treated me well, allowed me to return the exhaust and provided store credit (as I was outside the 30 day period). I ended up buying a Magnaflow Y pipe, much better construction quality and fit. The Magnaflow replaced an Eastern Catalytic Y pipe which lasted about 7 years. Although the fit was decent on that unit, the cat covers rusted off very quickly and the area around the oxygen sensor disintegrated. I'm hoping the Magnaflow lasts longer. Having put a Bosal muffler and rear cat on this truck, I would not recommend Bosal as the fit is haphazard.

In addition to the flange geometry being off, the gaskets I used with the Bosal failed after just a week (AP EXHAUST Part # 9024 Exhaust Pipe Flange Gasket; Gasket-Catalytic Converter). All of the packing broke loose from the gasket. It could have been from mishandling as I tried to close up the gaps.

I went with OEM gaskets with this Walker install and all is well so far (see image below of used AP EXHUAST gasket vs. new OEM gasket).

While I'm typing, I'd like to mention that RockAuto was really good with support for the two Bosals that didn't fit. They got back to me quickly and had commonsensical replies.

This "third times a charm" (BOSAL >> BOSAL >> WALKER) y-pipe replacement has made me respect Toyota OEM even more. Good stuff. I wish I had the $1000+ to spend on an OEM y-pipe.

What is the Toyota OEM parts number for the gaskets? Thanks!
