Curious if the top is really from a early style or the late 63 64 era with the full size doors. The reinforcement seam for the B pillar bow appears to be in the correct location. When I put this top on my grey one the seam is to far back. Would think going the other way the seam should be forward of the B pillar bow.:meh:

I haven't followed this but knew about it. Marshall was the one that told me that someone might be taking OCD's equipment and patterns. At that time he told me Jim was back to his old tricks again and he had one top he was working on getting since he was involved then he was finish with OCD tops. Too bad a couple of mudders bent over backwards to try and straighten the mess out. If the shop that is making the tops for Marshall doesn't have OCD's patterns then it would be at square one. With the small amount of interest in a group buy not sure the incentive for a company to make these.

I would think if they had a truck w/bows and an original top to pattern and an order for 10 tops all the same style with only color being different they would welcome that...

They could just do a normal side window and the metal rings can be added later

I agree, is there a vehicle with correct bows and doors in the area? I know Jim towed his 25 all the way to OCD for him to make a pattern. I'm not oppose to the idea. If the price is the same as the FJ40 tops he making now it wouldn't be worth looking any further. Since it seems Ken and Dave are working on getting this done I going to work on my own option for myself. May wait and see if THC comes up with anything.

I sure am glad i bought one of the first few he made! $ 600 shipped with extra material for doors !I heard he has done some troopy tops and would kill for one of those? How can there not be anybody else in the us to produce these?

I know a lot of people had problems with OCD and price did go up but the early tops were a story on their own. When I contacted him after he finished the first early top he told me he was busy making regular top and maybe the following year. He also told me his wife had just left him. He would have taken my money if I pushed a little. Another member did pay he to make two early tops and years later received to newer tops. Lately Ige was about to get a modified top without the removable sides. I don't know the cost of that one but right after he started having problems with new customers as well as old customers. trust me if I could have gotten a couple of them I would already have them.

Just like the Ehsan hub caps and Pilgrim tailgates it didn't feel right so I didn't get involved.

I was blown away when Jim started having problems, i ordered a top , paid and had it in 2 weeks, nice pleasant transaction! It fit my factory bows like a glove! Couldnt be more pleased! On a side note Georg and i found an fj25 on a farm and the owners used it to tow wagons with, i think it was a 59, (round speedo), anyway the owner goes in the barn and pulls out the factory soft top doors!! Mint, and asks if we want them !!! Free !!! Georg snapped them up! I wonder if that 25 is still on the farm? Its in central california off hwy 5. Oh and it was rust free.

Whitey, I'll meet you there.

going back to the color issue of the tops.... I know for a fact they had a dark blue top... police tops... do not know how far back they go... I have a picture someplace... but... know its not an early top

too bad the parts books don't specify the tops

Was the blue top on a JDM vehicle? Not sure that info would show here. Not only do they not have a color description they also don't have dates like the later system. So my cross reference may show me a couple parts used on the early stop tops but the only thing I know for sure if the part has FJ40 it's post FJ25. Problem is the FJ25 part may have been used on the FJ40 and number wasn't changed until a change was made. I do know the B/C bows from the B pillar back were the same as the std/B bows on the FJ40 until at least July 62. A on the 25 were the angle rear bow and C on the FJ40 were the ambulance door style and had extra bows for the door frame in the back.

Antony (tahoe4-/45) posted yesterday in that other soft top thread that the B pillar bow was a little shorter on the A style FJ25. It appears to be taller in the back on Mike truck. But I notice the top almost looks to long in the back. This is Phil's C style top.:hmm: I do like that look. With my FJ40 bows I picked up last year it included a set of soft top doors cut down to half doors. I think they would look good running without sides and back. Not sure about the rest of the country but here in AZ with the large temperature swings everyday removable sides and back makes more sense. Back in the mid nineties I bought a new Kayline top for later OEM bows. During the summer up around Flagstaff if I rolled the sides and back up around sunset when I wanted to roll them down the windows were stiff already. Being able to remove them and keep them flat would be a advantage. Or have they improved vinyl window since then? I know the Kayline top on one of the FJ25s is the same way but who know how long it been since Kayline make top for one of these.
