I'm willing to try to produce what ever you want but you all would need to come to some agreement as to what top you want. I just don't think it would be feasible to try and come up with a bunch of different configurations. One configuration in the colors you want. And do it in some sort of group buy. This wouldn't be anything that would happen overnight for sure. But with enough time and planning I'd be willing to give it a shot.

I don't see why this would be a problem? excluding the bow configuration, pre-'60 it seems as though there was only 1 option originally? anyone looking for an OEM reproduction would be limited to a single design anyway?

Went through a 1962 book I had and found something I didn't realize. The FJ43 was available with a rounded door. B-type = FJ43? A and C are 25/40?

To the microfiche! C has the rear bars for a 43 style ambulance door setup. In the fiche they call it STD, B, C (FJ43?), and STD again.

Besides the rounded door opening the FJ43 was also available with a standard opening but high rocker like the rounded door. One was in Australia. The owner posted on Mud and then sold on eBay. I have pictures of it.

Not sure what 1962 book your talking about my 62 micro-fiche shows the B style same as the std (A) bows. Difference is std has a tailgate and B has barn doors. C has the two piece ambulance soft doors. which make the rear bow area different.

What year was this FSM? I'll check mine but you notice that yours the B style bows has the two piece ambulance doors. 62 micro-fiche those were C. Toyota kept switching what they called different styles bows.

Need years on these. The FJ25 has the removable rear window. My 63 book shows no removable rear window and that style is called A. Is there a year on this micro-fiche and are the part numbers ten digit or the earlier part numbering system? Guess I need to dig out my 63 FJ25 micro-fiche and see if it's different than the 63 book.

Ok. The B stuff, STD stuff, etc. is a little over my head. Can someone just answer a question - when it comes time for me to find doors and a suitable top with bows, is it do-able, or impossible? I'll tackle the logistics after I know my chances ... ahah. The alternative is a 62' FST with no top at all.

Drove my FJ today and had a great time. Still can't believe a motor from the 60's runs like that. So simple, it's stupid.

The microfiche is 00116-00393 July 1963 - Model FJ25 and FJ25L. My '62 microfiche doesn't show the 25 (00116-00391).

I have the same 62 FSM I need to look.

I have a couple of 63 micro-fiche and 62 micro-fiche. The 62 is for the FJ40 and FJ43 both RHD LHD but old part numbers. The 63s are FJ40 and FJ25. Looking at the picture of the FJ25 I realized that it doesn't have a tailgate or barns door but just fixed closed. That was std. Looked in my book and it's there in front of the A style. As far as I know none of the std FJ25 were imported but the parts for the rear removable rear window were converted to ten digit. Used in some other English speaking market.

i think part of that will be solved by getting the bows fully dialed in. just running into issues with the inferior quality paki bows that i'm modifying to go on...currently, the rear bow is about an inch too tall, but i can't just take an inch off of the bottom because the bends are in different locations

I like the tread on the hard top tires.

So was Toyota the first to use the term sports utility vehicle. Modern version is sport not sports but was the term used before this. Having a six cylinder and hard top probably help win over jeep owners.

Next week I will do a comparison between the 25 and early 40 bows to check for differences. Would curious to see a picture of the 62 over the door header. That part number changed. Mine came off a 61. New to see I believe I have the VIN in a old email for Johnny's. It was sold here in AZ and then resold on eBay. The buyer was a Toyota dealer in Costa Rica. The VIN was in spanish so it headed back south of the border. Lucky for me the seller kept the bows and sold them later on Craigs List. Not to often early bows come up for sale by themself.

As you measure and if possible, I recommend creating a standard taxonomy of measurements. This standard will really help with the measurement/creation of tops. I have a 1960 FJ25 and a 1962 FJ40 for the reference guide once determined

Well NOT as expected the bows were not the same. There were differences in almost ever bow piece. How this will effect how a standard size top would fit? My guess is very little. One of the changes addresses Ige problem with the rear bow. I have a third set of B pillar bow and door headers I need to dig out. A 70" flat screen box works well for storing bows. No I don't have a 70" flat screen. Last place I worked at got a couple of 70" monitors for a demo theater. I just got one of the boxes.

so the 40 bow was taller? that's my original issue...about an inch and a half taller. the issue of the bends being in different places is just poor quality on eshans part

you could just cut it off in the center... take out an inch and a half... sleave the inside and slide the top back over... this is what ehsan does to split the bows width wise to ship them
