Nobody running dual batteries?🤔
Not a factory option!🤨

I ran a second battery on the driver side for the winch for years. Didn’t set it up right and the bouncing weight spider-cracked around the bolt holes. Have to be sure to have good backing plates on the upper and a good lower mount to distribute the weight across that thin sheetmetal to prevent cracks.

I’m really liking the dual side-by-side setups like Scrappy’s and a couple others. Unfortunately, the guy who built his mount is no longer making them.

22 years ago I bought two stainless FJ55 battery trays from guy here in Reno. One in stock area and one mirror image on opposite fender.

I ran dual batteries in my old 40 series with a regular starting battery and an AGM 100AH second battery. both batteries lived in the engine bay and the 2nd battery was charged by a Voltage Sensitive Relay, basically when. it saw over 13.5v it would join the batteries to charge the 2nd one, and disconnect at 12.8v.. it worked fine and the AGM lasted plenty of year but I've gone slightly different with the 55.

In the 55 I have a 135AH AGM slimline battery that lives in the back, and is charged by a DCDC charger. This thing has a better charge profile for different type of batteries, and also has an additional input of SOLAR, but I dont have gear to make use of that yet. My redarc dual volt meter gauge lets me see what both batteries are doing, as well as a digital voltmeter in the rear when the fridge/socket panel is turned on. It's freaky seeing the 2nd battery hit 15v+ on start up but then it quickly settles down to high 12's.. i guess this is normal for the AGM charge profile. let me know if you'd like some photos..

Yes, photos!
Rear setup with battery dcdc charger and fuse box.. the battery is strapped into a cradle that is wedged under the fridge slide/table

It's fed by some heavy gauge twin core wire from the engine bay battery, where its fused by an 80A midi fuse.

Thank you for the compliment. Yes Transmission cooler. Bought off ebay years ago.

I remember when I ordered, he said mine was the last one and had to be pieced together from other trays and that was years ago. Maybe time for another run of them.

I just shot them and email. Group buy.
See what he says.

Post your dual battery set ups with Pros and Cons and length of time you had your system. To help others with a selection 😘👈👉🧠
I got one of those. I got the prototype dual optima tray too. I talked to that guy in Reno, i might have sent him a stock 55 tray, i forget. He brought me the first one for a test fit and left it with me. That had to be 20 some years ago. I bet i posted pics at the time.
I ran dual redtops first, switched to yellow tops later. Ran them connected in parallel for years, just recently added the isolater. Thinking of removing it though.
