DT Cat Back Sys

I just installed the DT cat-back exhaust(thanks D1EZEL). I'm not sure its gonna pass the :princess: test. It has a nice rumble that I'm not sure she will like. She drives it more than I do. I might have to find a resonator to cut in. Has any one else done this? Which one did you go with? Any suggestions on where to buy high flow cats, also? I'm gonna have someone local build me some mid-pipes.

I really like how high and tucked in it is. Good fit.

I like the rumble it has and wasn't too keen on the idea of a resonator. My solution will probably cabin noise dampening. That way, I can get all the rumble I want with the windows down and a quieter ride when up.

Enjoy the new exhaust. It took my a week or two to realize the extra ponies that the exhaust and headers netted, but paired with the extra rumble it's a whole new beast.

I installed the DT Cat back system last weekend and so far I love it. It is a bit loud during normal driving but when you drive a little spirited it really sounds great. The drone is a bit obnoxious at times, anywhere between 1900-2200 RPM it is very loud. Let's just say if you have a hangover, you do not want the DT exhaust the next morning. I can't actually say for certain, but seat-o-the-pants meter says I picked up a little peppiness, it seems to be a little more responsive, and the top end certainly feels improved. My previous Magnaflow with stock pipes didn't have the kick down that the DT system provides. I did add quite a bit of sound proofing which helped, however the drone is still quite loud. Gas mileage took a big hit, but that is because I am just having to much fun. My iPhone doesn't pick up the sound too well on downshifting but the exhaust crackles and pops a lot, which is fun to do coming to a stop light or just wanting to dump some speed coming off the highway. Parking decks are dangerous now :). Let me know if you would like any other driving styles, I tried to do all in one video. Laptop and cell phone speakers don't do justice, a nice pair of headphones or speakers will do.

Sounds good! BTW what kind of grease do I need to run to get that kind of oil pressure? ' ]

Now I'm ready to get mine on!

But, just had cdl saying my cats are bad. So I'm trying to find an AFFORDable option that isn't going to increase my sound too much.

I've found direct fit walker and magnaflow midpipes. Deciding on those ATM.

DT made me laugh driving the truck for the first time

just had a DT cat back system installed after my muffler and flex pipe were looking like swiss cheese. i figured why not, you only live once. stock, schmok.

the DT system makes the LC almost like a muscle truck. it's loud and there are no apologies. it sound like an old chris craft boat cruising along.

the drone will take some getting used to, but my god the DT system makes this thing an animal.

wife seems to find it entertaining thus far.

what are you guys using for sound proofing? i used a moving pad in the cargo area. didn't change much.

It also spits fire around redline. It's awesome.

@baktasht does YOUR system spit fire?? (semi-serious question, I actually wanna know)

This is the DT thread. You should direct that question to the other thread. These two threads shouldn't mix. It's already caused some problems.

A simple PM night be your best bet.

Any free flowing exhaust using an unbaffled straight through style muffler will shoot flames when running extremely rich. And at wide open throttle most Toyota's, including the Land Cruisers, run very rich. Usually the flames are arrested by the multiple baffles/chambers in the muffler and in the tailpipe resonator. Once you open up the exhaust system with a straight through system, you will occasionally see flames and "pops" out the tailpipe on any vehicle that runs this rich.

If it shoots fire, then I need that. ;)

Haha, I'm going to have to test this theory. I don't think I've ever redlined my LC. Damn automatic...

Well,

I must admit, I don't generally take my engine near redline except for those few times I want to have a little bit of fun. However this dude in a Jeep with a V8 swap was revving his at the campsite, so I figured I would have a little fun too. Right when he hit the rev limited I figured I would do a quick blip and bounce off it once or twice. Everybody behind me said it was spitting 3' flames out the tail pipe. I really did feel bad for the motor, but I couldn't help but think how badass it must of looked. I may drink another pint of said "juice" and take a video.

As for how the DT sounds tooling around town a little heavy footed...here it is.

It was somewhat of a joke and pretty relevant to the thread (exhaust) and his response was very appropriate to the question: unbiased and informative. Thanks, baktasht!

Yes, it was.

Maybe you missed the drama a while back. Feelings got hurt and panties got bunched all around. I'm not a moderator, so I probably shouldn't have even mentioned anything. I'm not sure if posting a question to an EMS employee about an EMS exhaust in a DT exhaust thread is relevant, but who cares?

Although, that's kinda like me calling Fox shocks and asking them if Radflo shocks are built correctly.

Lets never rehash that.

Lol don't worry, I remember it plenty, I think it's best that we don't relive that hahaha *I'll never forget*

Have you guys been able to address the 2k rpm drone? I love the DT exhaust, but that drone isn't sitting too well for me.
