1984 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 Full Size 4X4 2F

"RARE full size 1984 North-American spec Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 for sale. VERY SOLID. Western truck, just shipped in. Starts right up. Runs good. Needs a good detailing and a paint job to be perfect. Clear title in hand. These FJ60 cruisers are in HIGH DEMAND these days and regularly sell for over $40,000 when finished. Very easy light project or drive as-is while it appreciates in value."

Wow, gotta love CL ads. Asking price on this one is $17,500 and thats probably about $14,000 too high. The wheels alone should be an indication of the problems with this vehicle.

I keep clicking on this title expecting to see my 60 here. Amazing the prices that are being asked for them.

I’m wondering if underneath this new layer of blue paint there is still that rattle can green. The irony of this is that truck with just the original old paint and some stock wheels....assuming the frame is decent would be a good baseline truck for someone to work from. Clearly not worth anywhere near the asking price. And now it looks like Japanese porn starlet after a specialty video

We all missed out....now that it’s painted the asking price is $24000. It’s a super expensive paint job where they went the extra mile and painted the wiper arms and blades, door locks and handles, vents, window trim, and tops of the tires.

Wasn't this one listed here less than a year ago at 60K?

Yeah it was. The guy got ROASTED on here for the price, so it makes sense to double it right?

Adding the VIN for that brown turd which now sports a horrific blue respray.

It's on ebay now.

It was listed and went to 11.9K, and is now rerelisted with a buy it now of 14K

This truck is local, and a friend of mine went to look at it to satisfy his curiosity.

It's an even bigger POS than it looks in the photos.

Major rust (painted over, of course), r/f damaged (hood doesn't close), and huge hole in driver's seat as well as big holes in the dash.

Oh yeah...it wouldn't start!

This dude is ridiculous!

This is hilarious. Fortunately, I don't think there is anyone dumb enough to part with their money for this thing. BUT, if it was purchased through eBay sight-unseen, someone could get a big surprise. Too bad eBay doesn't allow comments on their listings!

The rocker is by far the best part! And there are currently three bids...I love it!

They even painted the turn signal reflectors. That’s next level prep right there.

Welp, I finally decided I was going to send this guy a message..I'm curious as to how he will respond. It really sickens me how badly this cruiser is misrepresented and that people are actually bidding on it! These are the kinds of ads that inflate all the FJ60 prices...

In the early days of Ebay you could (if registered and logged in) contact a bidder directly and let them know of issues on an auction. For better or worse bidder's user names are kept hidden so thats no longer a possibility. Also unfortunately questions asked do not have to be posted by the seller....again for better or worse.

Yeah I did end up reporting the ad because it is so misrepresented.

I've sold tons of cars and even sold my old crawler to a guy out of state. You need to be honest when selling something and represent it. If it's rusty, you disclose that. The last thing I would ever want is for someone who bought something from me be upset with how I sold it.

The fact that this guy created a whole new eBay account just to sell this thing with no repercussions really bugs me. To top it off the way the pictures are angled and the fact that he used smaller resolution ones on the passenger side (so you can't zoom) just speaks volumes about the level of scammery going on here.

I really hope he gets stuck with this turd.

:poop:

Sheesh, is this guy even living in the real world?

I think its unlikely that the auction will meet that guys reserve....and if it does I think the seller will have easy grounds to back out of the sale when he arrives to pick up the truck to find that it has been completely misrepresented.

Haters.

These trucks are true survivors albeit they've survived a lot and they might not survive all that much longer.

Anyway.....never mind.

After several iterations on Craigslist.....each reducing the actual value....and each raising the asking price....and a run on Ebay where details of the truck were written with an optimistic hand, photos did there best to hide the issues, and detailed questions to the seller were responded to with things like "Sorry I'm out of the country"....the beast that launched this thread has gone dark. Will be watching to see when/where/if it resurfaces.

1985 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60

How about this Colorado Beauty Queen?

Yep, priced at more than double what it's worth. In all seriousness, probably a 6K rig given the current market, and if the rust-free claims are true.

I think this thread should be a sticky in the 60's section. There seems to be a new ridiculous ad every week, maybe more!
