hey guys i have a fj60 that im looking to do some serious expedition in, and im looking in doing a rear drawrer system. i was looking to buy but i think it'll be cheaper to build. anyone here have pics and or dimensions i can go off of. thanks in advance.

i would definatly go the route of building your own, prices are ridiculous if you consider the cost of material and when building your own you can design it around specific things you will always have with you. right now i just have a simple shelf system in my 62 with a flip forward section to setup a bed. i have been doing some scetches for my new drawer system. tomorrow i can post some pics of what i have now and my plans for the next one.
just put a set of AO drawers from SLEE in the 100.
friends thought i bonkers for spending the coin.
the install was 2 hours. OEM fit and finish. metal frame. less weight than a plywood set. better quality and smoother operation with solid drawer stops. the top slide is sturdy as all get out.
'stupid expensive' changed to 'wish i could buy them for the taho'.
when you make your own, youll have 500 bucks in quality rug, wood and drawer hardware. figure 50 bucks an hour for your production time, and youll be well over the 1500 bucks in price.
instead of wasting 3 weekends in the garage, put in some OT at work (if youre a wage guy), buy the drawers, and spend your time having fun.

thanks for the info guys and i think i'll stick to building, i can get free wood thats allready coated with a colored plastic so all i really need is the slides and some time, and i love builind insted of buying so i think it'll be a fun project.
Ditto...I was going to build my own. But that would have cost me, like you said, at least 3-weekends I got to wheel instead after installing my AO set. And...not knocking the wood drawers...but the AO are all steel...and I've been tough on them the past 2-1/2 years and no noise, bearing/slider play, etc. But...if you build your own please post up...I am always interested in the ideas that come forth here!

The front section is 2 pieces, folds. has treaded inserts for easy removal and allows my rear seats to be installed with the drawers. The sise pockets in the rear hold my third battery and charging gismos one side and recovery gear on the other. The drawers hold camping gear on one side and tools/parts on the other. Fully removable to easy access if you wish. Design copied and stolen from others on MUD...

i wanted solid locks, the fridge pull out, and bearing operation. a 12yo girl can pull these out fully loaded with gear. one hand operation in full kit.
you can do all that with wood, but not in one weekend, and youd be amazed at how much space bites the dust.
id like to see a home made set that operates close the refinement of the ao's. the guy that did it would have to have some cabinet experience.

Oh, don't get me wrong, the AO drawers are top notch. The best I have seen.
But worth the money?? Not to me when I can have functioning drawers for $100.
That's a lot of other gear that one can equip his truck with for the money saved.
Would I like a set of AO, yes. Do I want to pay $1400 for them, nope.

In about a month I will have an all aluminum drawer set-up for the 80 series. I'm in the design and prototype stage now. It will be fully powdercoated, lockable, light weight and tough as nails! Lots of cool features you haven't seen yet. I'm hoping to keep the pricing around what is availible now.

I would like light drawers that one side would allow the fridgse to stay low.
